Sensuality equals beauty-that's what today's young women are learning from our sex-obsessed society. Millions of 20somethings are caught up in trying to look like fashion models, movie stars, or the hottest new pop singer and end up plagued by insecurity, eating disorders, and sexual promiscuity.
Bestselling author and speaker Leslie Ludy (Set-Apart Femininity and Authentic Beauty) shares a different vision for feminine loveliness as God intended it to be-the breathtaking radiance of a young woman who has been transformed by Christ from the inside out. With candid personal stories, practical advice, and inspiration, Leslie leads young women on a life-changing journey to become women of feminine grace, beauty, and enduring style.
Leslie inspires girls toward inner changes but also talks about practical social grace and manners, how to dress beautifully, and even how to create a warm and lovely environment in the home. Clearly, true beauty is more than skin deep.
Ludy has every qualification to write this book, as a woman who has dealt with beauty issues herself, has written many other books for women about this topic, and as someone who interacts with young women regularly at conferences and through her ministry, Set Apart Girl. The book is relatively short and very easy to read. The advice given in the book, though targeted for younger women, can be applied to women of any age or relationship status who struggle with feeling and displaying the beauty and femininity God has given them.
I think that this book would make a useful tool for Christian women across the board. This might be fun to read with other women for discussion and bonding, be it as a mother-daughter pair, among girlfriends, or in a womens Bible study or book club. I would certainly recommend this book to those looking for concrete and practical ways to change the way they see themselves and beauty in general. Shannon Potelicki, www.ChristianBookPreviews.com
Rachel5 Stars Out Of 5Great for a girl after God's HeartDecember 13, 2011RachelQuality: 5Value: 5Meets Expectations: 5As a 17 year old homeschool girl, I needed a book that wasn't full of advice for girls in public school (even though we homeschoolers have our own temptations as well...I am still in the world daily, in my job, for example). This book met those needs, above and beyond. It offers practical advice for how I need to conduct myself around guys, having the right self-esteem (which is not really self-esteem but "God" esteem), forgiveness...even things people tend to overlook, like hospitality and manners. After the Bible, this is really the book I go to when I need enouragement. Looking forward to reading Eric and Leslie's other books.
Libby5 Stars Out Of 5July 19, 2010LibbyThis is a great book for any young woman desiring to live the set apart life. Leslie Ludy is always so honest and encouraging in all of her books. She is also definitely a great role model for young women everywhere!!
Amber Strobel4 Stars Out Of 5April 30, 2010Amber StrobelExcellent book! The only reason I did not give it all five stars is that in comparison to Leslie's other two books written directly for young women, this book is written for girls who are already Christians and who are truly seeking to serve God with all the heart, soul, mind and strength. If a new Christian (new to the entire Christian culture) or an unbeliever should pick it up, I could see them getting the wrong impression about what matters most in our walk with the Lord. However, for those that are already started in a good grounding with their faith, this book would be excellent!
M. Decker5 Stars Out Of 5April 17, 2010M. DeckerI found this book very encouraging! If you want something that will challenge, yet ultimately inspire, try this one. You will not come away feeling empty! Leslie is truly on fire for Christ- and she knows how to reach the heart.
Tamara Santos3 Stars Out Of 5April 3, 2010Tamara SantosWhile this book challenged me to look at my feminitity differently, and I am sure Leslie Ludy has great intentions and a wonderful heart she does a poor job of giving concrete explanations of what I think she wants say. While she does give a few bits of practical advice here and there it all seemed a little vague to me. I was left wanting to change how I look at my life, but not really sure how to do so practically. I will try another one of her books to see if maybe they build on one another.
