Tell us a little about yourself. Of course, I am a mother, grandmother, daughter of the King, licensed ordained minister, graduated with a diploma from Faith Bible Institute and Sunday School teacher. Obtained Master's in Social Work serving the public for over 50 years from certifying food stamp recipients to Probation Officer, job training specialist, Juvenile delinquency diversion programs, welfare to work program, Social Worker, therapist, conflict resolution/reconciliation trainer in various models, administrator and now retiree, "I believe." Yet there's more to do.
What was your motivation behind this project? Grandma's love for my grandson was the motivation of this project. It was my desire to write a children's book of my grandson's life realities that relates to the lives of other children. The goals to build positive character, accountability for their actions, good decision making, good thoughts about themselves, the ability to get along with others and to see themselves reaching and achieving higher heights in life when it is time to leave the "Nest" like the butterfly in the storybook.
What do you hope folks will gain from this project? I hope folks will see and/or continue to see the importance of nurturing our children, grands and other children for good life success in ways that are pleasing to God. I'm very aware of hard times and the lives of others are very difficult and challenging. Therefore I pray this book brings about hope, joy and some laughter creating a determination of "I will never give up."
How were you personally impacted by working on this project? I am personally impacted by this project because the storybook is about my grandson and reflects the attributes I tried and in many ways instilled within the children that I have served.
Who are your influences, sources of inspiration or favorite authors / artists? The personal influences behind this project are giving my grandson something to pass down to his children, children's children, a legacy and opportunity to grow the business. The other personal influence results from the many years of experience in working with disadvantage children, youth, families and communities.
Anything else you'd like readers / listeners to know: Yes upon retirement now time to focus on writing the other pending titles along with more literacy works involving this book.
