Everything about this book will make you smile. It is a very eye pleasing little volume with an orange leather-like cover, which has a pineapple embossed on itthere is even a built in orange bookmark. The size is perfect to tuck in to a beach bag, pocket or purse, and the texture of the cover is just right to keep it from slipping out of your hands, just in case you are reading it under a bright, hot sun.

Two brothers, Jedd and Todd Hafer, have put their heads together to write some very creative water themed devotions. From Bad Birds a devotion celebrating the value of pigeons to For the Love of a Penny where youll discover things you might miss out on when not looking up--you will find yourself chuckling, sniffling or convictedor maybe all three. The devotions are printed in an ocean blue color complete with tropical themed borders splashed along the top of every page. These devotions are light so none of them take very long to read. Because of that, the reader can take even a small amount of time to meditate on Gods word. Or, if more time is available, treat yourself to more than one.

This devotional promises to help you relax, reflect, and renew. It does all that plus transports you waterside even if you arent able to leave a landlocked home. I hold a great affection for the ocean and beach, along with anything themed in that direction. If you too feel the charm of the seaside, pick up this little devotional and hear Gods voice in the sea breeze. I liked everything about it except the font size; it is right on the borderline of being too small. One size up would make a world of difference. Nevertheless, this is a 5-star book that would be enjoyed by everyone, even more so by beach lovers!

The Hafer brothers love to go to the beach. They see the beach as a place where people relax and get away from troubles. They have written these devotions to help readers experience renewal and relaxation.

They cover many topics in their devotions, from picking up litter to how Lincoln handled anger to people the Hafers have met on the beach. Some of the devotions are informative, giving some interesting facts about beaches or what is on them. The devotions are generally encouraging, relating a biblical truth. They are not probing nor demanding much of a response from the reader. I did not find them very deep nor inspiring.

I recommend this book to those looking for interesting but undemanding devotions. You'll learn about beaches and receive some biblical encouragement too.

I received a complimentary egalley of this book from the publisher. My comments are an independent and honest review.

One of the best places I love to go to gain some peace and perspective is the beach. There is something calming, mesmerizing, and relaxing watching the waves splash along the sand, the saltiness of the breeze and laughter of children. Its a place where we can let go of the stress and just let go of our daily worries. Sadly many people are landlocked and few have actually visited a real beach so these experiences are not commonly shared but often times have lakes or rivers they visit. The experience is relatively the same.

Jedd and Todd Hafer have written a wonderful devotional called A Day at the Beach with daily inspirations to help you relax, reflect and renew yourself. Each devotional carries with it a Bible verse and how we can simply change our attitudes to help reflect the peace that God can provide. So many of the best things in life are willing to wait for us. Perhaps this is God's way of telling us to embrace the anticipation rather than fight it. To surf with the tide rather than swim against it. To let the journey unfold on its own schedule so it can be savored. Good advice for the beach to road trips and for life itself. You can refresh your soul and encounter God even if there isn't an ocean in the picture.

This devotional is filled with a collection of personal accounts, intriguing beach trivia, and even a fable or two. It is geared to help your reading to be as refreshing as a day at the beach, offering soothing waters for your mind and sunshine for your soul. There are devotionals reminding us about the importance of being unplugged, which seems to be common place, that we simply forget about the things and people around us because we are caught up in social media, texting and our smart phones. People seem to use the phrase that they are simply, "too busy to find time to spend with God," but the truth is if we simply set our phones to vibrate, we can let go and find quality time in our days to get things done and enjoy those around us more and spend time with God in our devotionals or Bible reading. These are short and sweet but pack a lot of things to consider and hopefully give the reader a break for all the things that can drive us crazy.

I received A Day at the Beach by Jedd and Todd Hafer compliments of Tyndale House Publishers. Some of the topics include, Making the Ordinary Extraordinary, Nothing Ever Happens on "Someday," Ocean Baptism, A Sail With Attitude, The Throwaway Ritual, Uses for Sand, Thanks for Nothing and so many more. There are 70 devotions tucked inside a beautiful orange soft cover that is so cool to tuck away into your purse or beach bag. This would make the perfect graduation gift or even something to use to have a short Bible devotion the next time you are at the beach or lake. The topics are perfect for discussion to utilize ways to make our days a bit more stress-free and relaxing. I easily give this a 5 out of 5 stars and now have to find a way to get it back from my 18-year-old daughter who took it to a beach birthday party for her Christian friends.

This devotional is so lovely. It is a beautiful book. Very well written. Devotions are truly inspiring. This devotional is meant to be relaxing, and it accomplishes just that. I really enjoy reading it at the end of the day. I am a school teacher and relaxation does not always come easy. This devotional is God inspired and a joy to read. I highly recommend it to anyone who is stressed and would just like some relaxing time alone with God.

"A Day At The Beach" by Jedd and Todd Hafer is a good and quick read for anyone who either likes the beach or enjoys reading about enjoying and resting in the presence of the Lord. Around 180 pages, the book covers such topics as:

    1. Not giving up on your dreams, regardless your age.

    2. Ignoring those who don't believe in us.

    3. The need for rest and relaxation.

    4. God can work in and through anyone.

    5. Strong relationships are more important than being financially wealthy.

These are just samples -many other topics are covered. The book may be read ina couple of sittings or as adaily devotion. Good book to bring with you to the beach or wherever you like to get away from it all! I was given a review copy by Tyndale Publishers in exchange for a fair review.
