Dr Cottrell is one of the greatest theologians. Among the thuosands of books that I have in my library, Cottrell's are among the best. He has several other books, which are not listed here. If you enjoyed "Baptism" look into all of the others. You will not be disappointed. God bless, Pastor Joseph Durham - www.2corinthians45.com

Responding to Roy Ingle's review: Dr. Cottrell does not hold to baptismal regeneration. Cottrell says: "The causal view (baptismal regeneration)...must be rejected altogether." Dr. Cottrell's book is one of the finest and most scripturally accurate works on the subject of baptism that can be purchased.

Those who are opposed to water baptism for the forgiveness of sins will find this book hard to grasp. Those who have been taught the "sinner's prayer" will also find this book hard to grasp. This book does a good job of dealing with all major biblical passages on baptism. Cottrell holds to baptismal regeneration and will differ with "faith only" camp.

I found Cottrell's book well worth reading. It is, for the most part, Biblically accurate and theologically informed. Cottrell gives an exposition of about a dozen pertinent scriptures dealing with the meaning, purpose, and importance of baptism. Those looking for an accurate and readable treatment of baptism will find it in this volume.
