Baker Illustrated Bible Dictionary, The - eBook

I wound up giving this away. Maybe it's because I purchased the Holman's at the same time.

This has less definitions as well as lacks minor things. It would be a great starter dictionary.

pics are pretty good. Still I'm going to put no for recommend.

Excellent study and research tool. My only regret is that it does not offer a pronunciation tool for difficult bible names. Regardless, I would definitely refer it to a friend.

On first sight I was a little disappointed because this dictionary does not help with pronunciation. I was thinking of sending it back because it lacked help with pronunciation. However I decided yo keep it. It has so many entries that it intrigued me. So I began to read some of the definitions. Then I began yo refer to it when I needed definitions. I find this dictionary to be very helpful and I plan on keeping it. I would recommend it to friends but I would have to explain that it offers no help with pronunciation.

This book is amazing! This is my newest companion to the other Baker publication that i value and use daily (The illustrated bible commentary). Like Baker's Commemtary book, this one also is a behemoth. It is the BEST bible dictionary i own and i own three of them now. The paper quality and binding is superb. The weight alone like the Commemtary book, is really solid and heavy. Its an excellent desk reference that should sit alongside any bible of all Christian bible students. Each word is backed by not only a definition of the word, but its Hebrew and/or Greek orgin; it's history pertaining to biblical context and overall biblical scholarship. One can not beat the price of this rich resource from Christianbook.com. If You're one that would rather look up information from the web, then I suppose that this book wouldnt be for you. However, if you're like me and prefer to physically hold something in your hand as a resource to our Christian core values, a well-bound heavy "book" like this one, is the only way to go! This book (as well as the Baker Illustrated Bible Commentary) is an invaluable resource, compacted into one simple desk reference book. These Baker books do NOT replace the Holy Scriptures, instead they enhance one to fully grasp certain technical aspects of the bible. These Baker resources only help to further one to dig deeper into the Holy bible itself and to "mine" it for all of it's worth. This dictionary is easy to understand and read and covers every single topic that i have tested (looked up) so far. The reader gets a clearer understanding of a person, place or thing, as well as People of the bible. This is another book that will be a joy and a blessing to hand down to my Children, as a reference for their own Christian study and love of "The Word." This bible "help" would make an excellent gift as well!

I was absolutely blown away by the quality of this book when I received it. It has a quality hard cover and the pages are very high quality. The type face is easy to read and it has excellent, high quality color pictures. It has been helpful in my studies. For the price that I paid at Christianbook.com the quality is outstanding and beyond compare.
