This is the first book I have had the opportunity to read by this author. Some of my favorite characters were Colt and Angelina. But I also enjoyed reading about Colt's father, Sam. It seems like he had a major transformation in his life, and it was fun to read about it and watch him bond with his children who were estranged and choose a new path. It was great proof that there is always possibility for change. I also enjoyed the faith aspect of the book.
I can't really think of anything about the book that I just didn't like. Of course there were some characters that weren't quite as lovable, but they made the story interesting, and added depth. I am really looking forward to reading book two, which as far as I can tell is about Colt's brother Nick. In this particular book, Nick is a struggling dad, whose wife left him and his two girls. He is having a hard time admitting the need for help. His children are suffering from his lack of understanding of their needs. He would probably be the character you'd want to smack some sense into, but his emotional state is understandable considering what he has gone through. I can't wait to see things turn around for him.
I would definitely recommend this book to anyone who loves a good clean story of redemption.

Sarah OCaliforniaAge: 25-34Gender: female5 Stars Out Of 5an amazing readApril 14, 2017Sarah OCaliforniaAge: 25-34Gender: femaleQuality: 5Value: 5Meets Expectations: 5This review was written for #1: Back in the Saddle.Colt's life seems to be falling apart and he goes home and to the last place he ever thought he would go home to. His dad is sick and it seems his brother needs help he never expected to come home to having a women running the ranch but will he be able to help his family and get back to NYC or will more secrets keep him on the ranch? Angelina is running the ranch and helping Sam out getting him healing. However she has some secrets that she needs to make some decisions on. She is also now faced with dealing with Sam's oldest when it seems that all is lost she starting to question her choices and weather or not she belongs at the ranch any more. Can she make the best choices for her family?
I LOVED this book. I super enjoyed the fun characters and the banter and the personalities of the young kids they seem to add a whole new element to the story itself. I totally enjoyed the small home feel of the book and how the past can seem to be everywhere good and bad but finding healing in it all seemed to be the key of this story. I really enjoyed the overall story nothing I didn't like. I enjoyed the fact that I got sucked in and couldn't put it down. This book is a clean romance and well worth the read. -

Ex cowboy Colt Stafford returns home to his familys ranch, Double S Ranch, in Grays Glen, Washington, after his career on Wall Street in Manhattan does not work out as he had hoped. He finds some new surprises at the ranch upon his return to the ranch his father, Sam, is not doing well; he meets the new housekeeper, Angeline, who is a beautiful, gun toting and secretive woman; his brother, Nick, is not happy with older brothers return. Will these surprises make him run far away from the ranch or will new promises on Wall Street make him run back to Manhattan.
Back in the Saddle is the first book I have read by Ruth Logan Herne. I kept thinking this book would be what a modern day story by Mary Connealy would be like. I found myself laughing out loud in several scenes, including within the first few pages, which caught my interest instantly. Angeline was probably my favorite character. I just loved her strength as a woman and loved her scenes with Colt. They both needed find themselves and figure out where they belong.
I enjoyed this book and look forward to more by this author and cannot wait to the next installment in the Double S Ranch series.
