"There are several reasons why Sarah Toulmin's Baby Bible will be a resounding success. Firstly, it looks the part, with pictures from renowned illustrator Kristina Stephenson adding extra depth and warmth to the characters. My Thoughts on this little Bible!

Baby's Little Bible, by Sarah Toulmin

I love Bibles of all kinds, and what a special little Bible to give as a give to a newborn! Because then is when we should start teaching our children about God.

In this Bible, the author chose some of the more known Bible stories for little ones. Some of those include: Creation; Noah and the Flood; David and Goliath; Jonah and the Whale; Daniel and the Lion's Den; Jesus Feeding the Five Thousand; Jesus Calming the Storm; Jesus' Death and Resurrection, plus a number of others.

The stories are very simple, and they do leave out important facts, but I think what the author is doing here is being as simple as possible for the young reader. When I am reading stories that are simplified like this, I always add what I think the child can understand, in a way they can understand.

The cover is very pretty, looks like something newborn. I recommend this book for your small child and encourage you to get a copy and start reading to your child as soon as they are born.

This book was provided by Kregel Publishers for me to read and review. I was not expected or required to write a positive review. The opinions in this review are mine alone

Baby's Little Bible is the perfect size for reading while in your lap while holding a squirmy baby. It has a padded cover, cheerful illustrations, and classic Bible stories told in simple language. Sometimes I am disappointed in Bible storybooks aimed at this age group, but this book looks like it will hold up well and be enjoyed by both the young children and the adults reading it to them. I think this would be a great gift for a newborn or a Baptism.

As most readers of this blog know, I am a father of an 18 month old, and we have another little baby on the way. So when the opportunity came to pick up this Baby's Little Bible for my little ones, I jumped at the opportunity.

Baby's Little Bible is a collection of bible stories for small children. There are a total of 20 stories. Nine of the Bible Stories are from the Old Testament. Eleven of the Bible stories are from the Gospels. There are no bible stories from the rest of the New Testament.

There is much to commend about this book. The pictures are colorfully illustrated. The stories are written in a straight-forward fashion. The author ends the story of Jesus following the resurrection well. The cover is appealing.

I do, however, have some concerns about the book as well. First, if it is truly a baby book, than it should really be a board book. I would not give this book to my toddler because she would tear the pages apart. Also, some of the vocabulary of the book is a little advanced for babies and preschoolers. Especially preschoolers who are trying to learn to read.

All in all, I think this book will be helpful during story time with my little ones as they grow. Baby's Little Bible is a good resource for parents to read the Bible stories to their children.

I actually have the pink (girls) version of this book, but for some reason the site would not let me post a review on that product page, so I will just post my review here.

This little Bible contains simple re-tellings of the following stories:

    In the Beginning

    Rainy Days

    God Chooses a Family

    A Special Coat

    A New Home

    Walls Fall Down

    The Giant and the Boy

    The Big Fish

    Hungry Lions

    Baby Jesus

    Jesus and His Message

    The Hole in the Roof

    The Good Shepherd

    Bread and Fish

    A Scary Storm

    The Little Girl

    A Prayer

    Here Comes the King

    The Cross

    Alive!

The sentences in these stories are simple, and the words would be easy to read for a beginning reader. My 2 ½-year-old daughter liked the pictures in this book. They are brightly colored, and they are cartoon-like, but not so much so that they look weird.

This is not an in-depth children's Bible (and there are no Bible references listed for the stories), but it is a nice, simple retelling of a few Bible stories. I would almost hesitate to call this "Baby's Little 'Bible'," since it is more like a Bible story book and not a complete Bible.

When I asked my daughter what she liked best about this book, she said, "The Baby Jesus part." She also said she liked, "Noah with the animals" and that the pictures of the lions were, "scary...just a little bit."

"Baby's Little Bible" is an eye catching book of Bible stories that is sure to capture baby's attention. This is a book that actually comes in blue or pink, and for me I just love the soft feel of the cover, while it is a hardback book, it has a soft cushy feel that little hands will just love.

This little book is divided in two sections, Old Testament stories and New Testament stories. The Old Testament section is at the beginning of the book and consists of nine stories, which are about God who created the world. The New Testament section consists of eleven stories that are all about Jesus. Each of the stories are beautifully illustrated with vibrant colors that just jump off the page. This little book would make a perfect gift, and I am certain would become a nice little keepsake that could easily be passed from generation to generation. I love the fact that the book also includes a page that allows the giver to put who the gift is for and who gave it, much like a real Bible.

I really think "Baby's Little Bible" would make a perfect first Bible, what a great way to introduce youngsters to the word of God. Highly recommended!
