This has been a great resource for our family. The kids and I sit down and read it almost every morning, and if I have to leave to change the baby or some such thing my 9-year-old is able to take over reading and the two of them can go through it together.

I was pleasantly surprised by this book. The author goes a lot deeper than I had expected. The verses are well illustrated and explained. There is a topic, like God or The Armour of God or The Bible and there are 3 or 4 verses listed. Then there is a short explanation, followed by What I Think, What God Wants Me To Know, Look At It This Way, and a Prayer.

It's well written, nicely laid out and a great little devotional for kids 7-12.

My Kids Say

It's a fun way to learn Scripture, and it makes some confusing verses easier to understand. My daughter (9) says her favourite part is "Look At It This Way", and my son (6) says his favourite part is the questions in "What I Think".

Rebecca Lutzer has used her gifts of hospitality, mercy, and teaching to minister to many women. She is an RN and enjoyed working as a surgical nurse for several years. She and her husband, Erwin, coauthored a book on the women in the life of Jesus and how He changed their worlds titled Jesus, Lover of a Woman's Soul.

My Review:

The author has taken some of her favorite Bible verses and put them in book form in the hopes that your children can better understand and learn from them. The book includes 100 different verses on a variety of subjects that include but are not limited to God, Jesus, the Holy Spirit, the Bible, the Ten Commandments, and so on. It is a small book packed full of goodness.The author hopes that the children using this book will memorize the verses and passages and apply them to their daily lives.

Each section includes:

Bible verses, a short explanation or definition.

Thoughts or questions to ponder on or discuss.

Things God wants me to know--a more elaborate explanation.

Ending Prayer to sum it all up.

It is important as parents for our children to really have understanding of the Bible. There is nothing worse than a grown up that is having to teach themselves what the Bible is and about everything it contains and what it means. The book starts with a note from the author that stresses the importance of memorizing verses from the Bible. The introduction is followed by sections. These sections have verses to memorize that go along with the title for the section. Some of the titles are God, Friendship, and Giving. The verses are then followed by a note from the author that talks about that section and why these verses are so important to the Christian life. The verses are written out so you do not have to have a Bible alongside the book. I thought that was a great idea and is really what helps make this book so easy to use!

I gave this book 5/5 stars. I thought the book was laid out very well which made it easy to follow and understand. The author's notes in each section were lighthearted, informative and not preachy in any manner. I would recommend this book for children who are interested in memorizing verses but don't know where or how to start. It would be a great book to give to any child as a present.
