No one wants to see a church die. And yet, far too many churches are dying. For more than twenty-five years, Dr. Thom Rainer has helped churches grow, reverse the trends of decline, and has autopsied those that have died. From this experience, he has discovered twelve consistent themes among those churches that have died. Yet, it’s not gloom and doom because from those twelve themes, lessons on how to keep your church alive have emerged.
Whether your church is vibrant or dying, whether you are a pastor or a church member, Autopsy of a Deceased Church will walk you through the radical paths necessary to keep your church alive to the glory of God and advancement of Christ’s Kingdom!

There is a saying, "good things come in small packages" and I believe that this book is one of those good things. Whether you have been attending the same church for 1 month or 30 years, no one wants to admit that their church has a problem.
The author address several problems that can cause a church to die. Some you may be aware of, some you may not. Maybe you see the beginning of a problem but where unsure what to do or who to talk to. This book not only give you what to look for, but he also offers a few solutions on how to combat the problem.
For me, most of the text I was already aware of, but there were a few points that were new for me.
Even if you believe that there could not be anything you could learn, I would encourage you to read this book with an open mind, you never know what God is waiting to reveal to you.
The best chapter for me, was the one on prayer, both corporate and individual.
The book is the size of gift book with 101 pages of actual text, it's not a long or difficult read. This is a book not only for Pastors & deacons and church board member, but for the people in the pews.
Pastor Walt5 Stars Out Of 5Help your dying churchMarch 15, 2017Pastor WaltQuality: 5Value: 5Meets Expectations: 5When I first read this little book, I was struck at the valuable information given. I am using it with the church board of a struggling church in my community and the officers are excited about getting help for them to grow. Even members not on the board are reading it and getting excited. Now it has spread from our little church to other churches in the area. Raines really make us think about what is going on in our congregation.
Iman5 Stars Out Of 5Autopsy of a Deceaseed ChurchDecember 5, 2016ImanQuality: 0Value: 0Meets Expectations: 0Easy read and very important message too! This is going on a lot more often in churches, then Christians want to admit. Time to wake up, trust the Lord's leading and get out and think outside of the pew or box.
Jeff5 Stars Out Of 5Wake up!December 1, 2016JeffQuality: 5Value: 5Meets Expectations: 5Fairly short easy read, but really packs a wallop. It is either a wake up call to do what you can to resuscitate your church if there's any hope left or the "bad news" that your church is gasping on its death bed. The happy oblivious depicted who sit in your dying church week after week never seeing the decline is an especially startling thing you will recognize as you read. If you have a sneaking suspicion that your church may be in decline, read before it's too late.
