Product Description

For decades, Third Millennium Ministries has been working to make a high-quality, orthodox theological education possible for anyone. Its Master’s-level course materials are written in accessible language, vetted by Evangelical scholars, and used by seminaries, Bible colleges, churches, and mission organizations around the world. Now this established curricula is available in book form—an ideal resource for any student of theology, formal or informal. “Knowing God” means different things to different people—everything from experiencing personal intimacy with God, to witnessing his mighty works, to understanding facts about him that the Holy Spirit has revealed. What theologians often call “theology proper” is complex but vastly rewarding, growing us in our knowledge and understanding of God. The Attributes and Works of God considers God’s attributes, eternal plan, and works in history, with a special focus on his decrees, creation, and providence. Readers will learn the fundamentals necessary to understand themselves and their world.

Editorial Reviews

We Believe in God is a foundational look at who God is and how He works in the world. It not only offers perspectives from a variety of theologians, but also points the reader to the Scriptures to discover how God is both similar to and different from His creation. Embedded in every culture are truths mixed with lies and distortions of what God is like, what He cares about, and what He does. This book will help the global Church hear from God not only to see how He is and always has been at work in the world, but also to understand who He is and why He does what He does. -- Sundee Simmons, Associate Director, Perspectives Global

I am very pleased to commend these written resources to accompany the high-quality video productions of the Third Millennium curriculum. There are wonderful and practical benefits from growing in our knowledge and love of God. This is particularly true of this book We Believe in God. I am grateful for four observations: • Simplicity—inevitability studying the doctrine of God will raise complex terminology and mind-stretching theology. But We Believe in God succeeds in doing this with simplicity, accessibility and readability; • Profundity—having said the aforementioned, there is depth here, covering God’s nature, attributes, interrelationships within the Trinity, and so on, that help us to grow in our knowledge and love of God; • Humility—in all this, it is acknowledged that knowing God is as much to do with disposition and prayer, as it is to do with data. Somehow this short book is able to achieve both; • Mystery—and the end result of our studies is worship. We worship God for what we have come to know, and for what remains only partially grasped. -- Simon Vibert, Vicar, Christ Church Virginia Water, Surrey, United Kingdom
