DiAnn Mills does a great job of giving a glimpse into the life of a Secret Service agent as she shares this riveting story of a group of agents who are given the responsibility of protecting the Vice Presidents daughter. Lindsay is not an easy person to protect because of her addictions to alcohol and drugs. I can almost understand being willing to take a bullet for a good, decent, God-fearing, outstanding politician, but not so much for a person who seemingly looks for trouble the way Lindsay does. But Ash, Meghan, and the other agents are willing to give all to see that no harm comes to her while she is hidden away on a secluded Texas ranch for rehab. It seems someone is out to get her but is there more to the situation than they realize? Are they up to the challenge? The suspense kept me reading into the early morning hours as they faced the possibility that they would all be taken out. Even in such dire circumstances, romance starts to bloom. I recommend this book to anyone who enjoys clean romance and a lot of suspense.
This book was pretty solid. Sometimes I have a hard time with Chrisian fiction as the writing seems to struggle at times but this book was pretty good. Characters were developed well and the storyline was clear. There was an air of mystery that kept me guessing until the end and just enough romance to keep any romance seeking reader happy. I also really loved that this book was obviously a Christian novel and talked about God but not so much that you felt like it was being shoved down your throat. Overall, a great read and I would recommend this novel. I'll be looking for other novels by this same author.
One Word changed how I felt about this book. I was totally into this book and it was a possible Book Club book, but then it had one and ONLY one word, a cuss word that made me change my mind completely. If writing a Christian Book there is no need for one word period, it doesn't help things look more real, even if it's the bad guy. It was totally NOT needed and it was such a great story but I lost all respect and joy in reading the book. Sorry I can't recommend.
I rarely give 5 stars, but this book had really good balance, it had me by the end of the first chapter, well written, good story, interesting characters, intrigue and twists and turns, and a really good christian base.
