KellyPurcellville, VAAge: 45-54Gender: female5 Stars Out Of 5At Love's Command commanded my attention from beginning to endJuly 9, 2020KellyPurcellville, VAAge: 45-54Gender: femaleQuality: 5Value: 5Meets Expectations: 5At Love's Command, the first book in the author's newest series, Hanger's Horsemen, did not disappoint this avid Witemeyer fan. The witty banter Witemeyer readers have come to expect is laced throughout this sweet romance but unlike the author's previous stories that I can recall, there is more adventure and danger woven into the plot, especially in the opening scenes. And ladies get your fans ready because Matt Hanger is a totally swoon worthy hero. I think fans of the Archer Brothers series will gravitate to Hanger's Horsemen. At Love's Command commanded my attention from beginning to end.
I received a free copy of the book from the publisher via Net Galley. I was not required to leave a positive review. All opinions expressed are my own. -
MaryAnnORAge: 55-65Gender: Female5 Stars Out Of 5Powerful drama 1890s TexasJuly 8, 2020MaryAnnORAge: 55-65Gender: FemaleQuality: 5Value: 5Meets Expectations: 5Matthew Hanger may have been a hard-fighting cavalry officer in the later 1800s, but he has a caring heart and a solid urge to do what is right. When he meets up with Dr. Josephine Burkett in a Texas town, the course of his life is changed. This exciting tale has an Old West flavor, with horses playing a vital role. Of course, there are gunfights, but the author focuses more on the compelling characters than on the blood and injuries. Several characters learn lessons about overcoming their troubled pasts by the time the fast-paced story winds down. I think this intriguing novel may be one of the author's best. If you love historical fiction, you won't want to miss this. I received a copy from the publisher through Netgalley. All opinions are my own.

Sandra Burson5 Stars Out Of 5Loved, Loved, Loved This BookJune 18, 2020Sandra BursonQuality: 5Value: 5Meets Expectations: 5There is one problem with finally getting to read book one of your favorite authors new series. It is better than you anticipated, and now you have to wait for months until book two comes out. Karen Witemeyer has a way with words that I can't get enough of. Her stories have it all, adventure, family, love and romance. But best of all she has that thread of faith running throughout, until the last page. I absolutely loved Matthew Hanger and his other three mercenaries, Mark, Luke and Jonah. Dr. Josephine Burkett was a perfect match for all three of the retired infantrymen. I can not wait to see who she writes about next. They are all outstanding so I know it will be good.

Fhlady4 Stars Out Of 5Christian Western RomanceJune 9, 2020FhladyQuality: 5Value: 5Meets Expectations: 5The first book in Karen Witemeyer's historical western romance starts this series in a great way. Set in 1893 Texas , starring 4 wonderful western calvary men whose aim is to fight for right and justice and are all strong Christian men. Throw in a lady doctor with plenty of grit, determination and faith; and you just can't miss. Add some villains, a wayward brother, suspense, humor and romance, and this book is a recipe for success.
Looking forward to the next book in this series to see where life takes Hanger's Horsemen and Dr. Jo as well as which one of the Horsemen will find love next! -
Yvette K.5 Stars Out Of 5First in a new series from Karen WitemeyerJune 8, 2020Yvette K.Quality: 5Value: 5Meets Expectations: 5If Karen Witemeyer was not already a favorite, must-read author, then At Love's Command would definitely put her in that category.
With a capable and forthright heroine, a no-nonsense ex-calvary officer hero, and his band of mercenaries dedicated to non-lethal justice, this is an action-packed start to the Hanger's Horsemen series that is at turns amusing, riveting, tense, and touching.
Highly recommended for those who enjoy Historical Christian Romance with action and a sometimes contentious but ultimately tender romance, where an unlooked-for love blooms in spite of their resolve as they look to God for strength through difficult times.
