"At Bluebonnet Lake" is a Christian romance novel. There were actually two romances going on: one involving Kate's grandmother and one involving Kate and Greg. The characters were nice people and acted realistically. I liked that Kate and Greg had to deal with some issues from their childhood before they could move forward.

Greg is a huge success, yet he still lets his father's harsh words and disappointment in him dictate how he views himself. Kate lost her parents when she was young, so she clings to what feels secure and predictable. Kate and Greg shared interests and made a great team. They were better people when together as they supported each other and helped each other find healing.

The Christian element was that Kate and Greg needed to learn to follow God's leading in their life even when it didn't feel safe. There was no sex or bad language. Overall, I'd recommend this enjoyable novel.

I have previously read Amanda Cabot's historical romance series, so I was interested to see what she did with a contemporary romance. I loved it. There was humour, particularly in the form of sweet old grandma, reliving a wonderful week spent at Bluebonnet Lake with her deceased husband, fifty years ago! She revisits the Rainbow's End resort with her granddaughter, Kate Sherwood, who has trouble facing life in the country, after success in her fast-paced city life. Grandma and Rainbow's End are both a little worse for wear, keeping handyman Greg Vange busy keeping up with them. Romance sparks like fireflies around the lake, but you'll have to read for yourself how things work out. You wont regret it.

This is the first in the Texas Crossroads series, what a great place to start.

Advertising executive Kate Sherwood has promised her grandmother, Sally, that she will take her to Rainbows End resort in the Texas Hill Country. She is not prepared for the run down resort. It is not exactly what Sally described nor what it is advertised as. Yet, she has promised her grandmother a month here at this resort so she will make the best of it. When she sees Greg Vange she mistakes him for the handyman. She quickly learns her mistake and that is when the sparks fly. Not only is Kate in for a surprise but so is Sally. Kate must make decisions about her future that she is not sure she is ready to make. What is it that will truly make her happy?

Greg Vange is not sure why God has led him to Rainbows End but he knows he is here for a reason. When Kate Sherwood steps into his life he is not sure where it will lead, if anywhere. Greg has some issues he needs to figure out for himself and find exactly where God is leading.

The slow paced town is not what either Greg or Kate are used to yet it has a homey feel. I love the lessons learned by both Greg and Kate and I also enjoyed Sally and her chance at love. This is almost like two romance novels in one.

I was given a copy of this book from neutrally for my honest opinion.

This contemporary romance is set in Texas hill country, where wildflowers bloom, at a rundown resort called Rainbows End. Actually, two love stories emerge from the trip Kate, a New York advertising whiz, takes with her widowed grandmother, Sally, who had longed to revisit this special place shed loved long ago. The story is slow-paced like the setting, and the author seems to use too much telling and repetitive introspection, but the characters are alive and make the reader care about their lives. Not only do the main characters grow, but their self-understanding and relationships mature too. Things may tie up more sweetly than in reality, but isnt that why we read novels?
