Slattery is evidently just one more of the malcontents who don't want to bother obeying God. It's just too much trouble to buck the tide of Sunday worship. The usual excuse, misapplied of course, is "We're no longer under the Law, but under grace". It shows a lack of understanding of scripture. Books like this are all the same, relying on misinformation rather than facts. The answer to the title is, of course, "no".
It is unfortunate how many people, like Mr. Slattery, are so dishonest about what SDA's really believe. This book simply regurgitates the misinformation found on so many websites that attack SDA's If you want to know what SDA's believe ASK ONE! The ones I know are Christ centered and more than happy to answer any of your questions honestly. You wouldn't want someone to go to your enemy and ask what kind of character you have would you?
As a former SDA I cannot say enough to everyone to examine the scriptures for yourself. It is all there, Christ died for our salvation, it cannot be earned. What I have found is that once a person is dissatisfied with the sect and leave it is difficult to believe again. Praise God, He sent someone to me to show me the way. I love all of my relatives who are SDA's some who are even ministers. I have been ostracized for my new "new" beliefs. I now belong to a bible believing, spirit filled, charismatic church. It does take a long time to get all of the false teachings out of your mind, but please everyone study the bible not teachings by White. Always put the scripture above all else. We do need more indepth teaching on false prophets. Thank You for writing the truth.
