I really wish they had included a pound of modeling clay for the ocean box figures. I had a tough time, deciding on what to buy. Wanting to be chemical-free and all earthy, I bought a box of colored beeswax. This stuff is so difficult to manipulate, even for me, even with a bowl of hot water to soften the pieces. I just need normal, boring, grey clay--they can always paint over it, right? I haven't a clue about these types of things, which is why I paid the big bucks for this set of supplies. Ho, hum, oh well. Just be mindful that you need to supply your own box of clay. :)
With my older children I scrounged, foraged and then ran to the store to get items. With this kit each lesson has its own bag and almost all items needed for the book and experiments are included. This kit saves mom sanity and your kids will be EXCITED to do science. If you can afford this, pick it up, it is worth the price.
This is the first time I've ordered a science experiment kit, so I wasn't sure what to expect. I was so pleasantly surprised and will definitely do so in the future when possible! This kit includes just about everything you could possibly need for the experiments and "Try This" sections in the Zoo 2 book. The bonus was that each lesson of supplies was in it's own, labeled bag! Wow - not only don't I have to run to stores or scrounge around the house for simple (or hard-to-find) supplies, but I also don't have to rummage through a science experiment box to pull out the needed items - it's all in a large, ziplocked bag marked "Lesson XX". BRILLIANT!!!
