As a homeschool famiky, we have had trouble finding a good science curriculum. our son loves science, but had gotten bogged down in the books we were using. After the first day using Apologia: Exploring Creation, he was begging me to do more pages. I love watching his eyes open to the wonders of science. (Note: My son is 7 years old.)

I have been happy with the book. It's at the right level for my two kids who have been ages 9-11 (5th & 6th grades) throughout the school year. We did some science through Bob Jones in the past, so I think that helped prepare them for the concepts in this Apologia book. I would definitely NOT recommend this for kids younger than 3rd grade. The notebooking journal that goes with this textbook has been essential for us.

I wasn't sure I would like a curriculum that is so demonstration-based, but the demonstrations are simple to put together and include items that I usually have on-hand. They also really do help my kids (and me!) learn the concepts. I do think this particular subject matter is best for 3rd - 6th grade. When I started talking about atomic mass and nucleons, even my 3rd grader's eyes were glassing over. We're only a few units in, but I think this course is very well written and presented. I will continue using Apologia science courses in the future.

We love all the hands on work you do in the book as you progress. It really helps the kids not just remembering the information but also to love learning more.

Although I love Apologia, I am not a fan of this author. The books written by Dr. Jay Wile seem better and they come with test and other products that help with checking for understanding. To us, the books written by him contain better language and vocabulary. Overall, the book contains good information, I like that it Christain curriculum, but it could have been better.
