I just wanted to share that this book really is for an average 8th grader or non- science- minded 9th grader. If your student is not planning on majoring in Science or Math fields in college, this can count as your 9th grade/physical Science course. (Otherwise they should go straight to Biology) I think the target range is 8th grade. It would only be suitable for VERY Science minded, academic 7th graders who use textbooks well and absorb info very well. The text is conversational, to a fault. There are more words than necessary, and sometimes a simple chart or pictograph would have conveyed more meaning. My older child (very academic, methodical, careful reader and loves Science in every form) thrives with Apologia. My other child (very smart, clever, quick, a speed reader, not much into Science) absolutely hates this book.
Get this Science book and you won't regret it! For a subject like Physical Science, only a few books could make me enjoy it, and this was one. I could never wait to get to my Science work! It was full of great experiments and fun facts. Colorful, friendly, and conversational, the book gets an A+! Will definitely be using this curriculum for a 3rd time!!
