Easily create your own lapbook with this pre-printed, ready-to-go, loose-leaf set of pages!
This set of lapbooking pages accompanies the sold-separately Apologia Exploring Creation with Biology, 2nd Edition. Most lapbooking products are loaded with crafts and "artsy" projects that Middle and High School students are often moving beyond--however, they still enjoy a hands-on experience! Combining lapbooking with journaling, the Lapbook Journal is divided into 3 sections, all kept within the same (not included) 3" three-ring-binder. Simply organize these pages and you're ready to start learning!
The first section is the "Journal" section, which includes space to answer all of the "On Your Own" questions within each module. These pages are "Notebooking" style, and the questions are printed out next to space for the student to write the answers. These pages may include decorative borders, graphics, or diagrams that are related to the topic about which the student will be writing.
The second section is the "Lapbook" section, which is similar to traditional lapbooks, but without folders in which to place the booklets. The student cuts, folds, and glues the booklets onto cardstock pages within the binder. All of the booklets represent the "Study Guide" questions at the end of each module.
The third section is "Lab Journal." This section includes general lab forms for each lab within the book.
Eliminate the dull and tedious task of writing the questions and answers into a traditional notebook! Why not step up to a "Lapbook Journal," and see your students improve their memory of the material and actually enjoy their studies? A wonderful way to review and exhibit work, this binder replaces any other notebook that they may have otherwise been kept (other than their record of their lab experiments).
This printed set includes the actual, printed pages (and is not a CD-ROM). Pages are printed on the recommended colored paper, with some thicker when appropriate; pages are already three-hole-punched. This stack of pages is approximately 3.5" thick.

Momof54 Stars Out Of 5I purchased both the Student Notebook and ThisJune 13, 2016Momof5Quality: 0Value: 0Meets Expectations: 0I purchased both the Student Notebook and this Lapbook because I wanted to compare the two. I found that the Notebook and Lapbook contain much of the same information, just in different formats. For the Lapbook, there are pages that require the student to cut-out and assemble mini-books, which provide more of a hands-on, creative- learning opportunity. This adds some interest to the student's completed notebook in the end. The downside to the Lapbook is that it does not have color photos like the Notebook does. The color photos are appealing and make the pages interesting. The size of the Lapbook is also about 4 times what the Notebook is. I like Lapbooks and always lean towards them when available, but I will show the two options to my daughter and let her choose which she prefers and I'm pretty confident she will prefer the Student Notebook.
Meg1 Stars Out Of 5Poor Product in Content and Condition - I paid for overpriced copier paper.October 19, 2015MegQuality: 0Value: 0Meets Expectations: 0Do not buy this item. We have always purchased the Student Notebooks to accompany Apologia's textbooks and, oh, how I wish I would have resisted the notion of "trying something new." We have used Apologia's science products for years and while no doubt some editions' notebooking journals are better than others, I have a hard time believing this product is even produced by the same company. The layout is so wasteful and the content so weak in its application, that it feels like a scam: It is not professional and reads more like a parent-volunteer or intern-made activity book...except it doesn't have any useful activities. It is not the Apologia quality we are used to, and whatever editing and graphics company they outsourced to for this product, should be fired.
The whole thing needs to be reworked. At least 40% of the Lapbook Journal is wasted space and repetitive garbage. Learning concepts are not varied, they're simply repeated (and not in the good way.) There are at least 10 unnecessary title pages for each unit. Four sections are optional, meaning you choose one or the other. The rest, I guess you just toss out or use as scrap printer paper like we do. Also, there is an incredible lack of efficiency in how questions are spaced on the pages; 3 questions to one page, a paragraph's worth of lines provided, for one-word answers. The labs are dry, confusing, ill-instructed, and poorly laid out. I hate that we have had to skip most of them. The lapbook option pages are not creative or challenging: they're simply printed on colored paper in some Microsoft Word-like boxes. Not inspiring.
As if the colossal waste of money and redundant application questions were not enough, christianbook shipped this product to me in a loosely wrapped cellophane. We're talking about a heavy hundreds of pages folded up like a pack of Orbit gum rather than shrink-wrapped or bound. Needless to say, that technique did not survive shipping and I opened my box to a mess of papers to be organized.
To add insult to injury, several pages, including every single unit summary, is fuzzy and looks like it was printed on a printer running out of ink. They're practically illegible.
I contacted christianbook after I received the product regarding the shipping problem and they refunded me 11% of my order for that inconvenience. After working through this Lapbook the first 9 weeks of our schoolyear, we are so incredibly dissatisfied with the product as a whole that I will be requesting a full refund that could be applied to the Student Notebook. My freshman son, whose favorite subject USED to be science, absolutely detests this product. Hopefully we can get him back on track with the Notebook.
