While the frog and fish seemed to be robust samples, the worm was flat as possible, making dissection very difficult. The crayfish, upon opening the package, fell apart. It was brittle and made dissection almost impossible for my teen.
It is wonderful that these specimens are available separately. I already have the tools left from my older children, so this is very helpful. My only problem is that when the package arrived, the bag was leaking the preservative fluid. I have placed it in a plastic zip top bag and put it in the refrigerator. Hopefully, the specimens will be usable when my daughter is ready for them later in the year.
This is a convenient way to purchase exactly what you need for Apologia Biology. There are cheaper ways to get the specimens, but then they are harder to use. These are singly wrapped and all in one box.A small price to pay to keep from having buckets of dead animals around your house or school.
The specimens come in a nicely sealed clear plastic bag with each specimen inside its own sealed clear plastic bag. My daughter was caught off guard when she opened the CBD box of curriculum and saw a fish looking right at her! You may want to warn yours ahead of time.
