Very good specimens especially for the money. I have since learned that there are filled specimens where the vital veins and arteries are actually filled with dyed material making identification easier. We shall persevere with the old fashioned method and if that fails, we shall guess LOL. Very good product considering what the product is. Packed well with limited smell - a definite plus. Does not come with a gag reflex suppression unit for moms, so the sensitive must be strong for the team. Biology is so much fun in home school.

Q: Can I open the package? Can I cut the heart open? Will this affect the preservation of the heart?

All dissection specimens can be stored indefinitely, as long as they are in an airtight bag or container.

Q: Has the pig had the blood vessels injected with dye?

No, the vessels of the pig are not injected with dye.

Q: How long will they keep? I got the dissection specimens for Advance Biology on 5/15/2011. I just want to make sure they are still good. I will be using them in the next six month.

These specimens are designed to keep indefinitely as long as they remain in their individual packaging. There is no expiration date.
