Tell us a little about yourself. Laurie is an aspiring writer who enjoys contemporary and science fiction/fantasy. She is a professor in education who loves to encourage new teachers to be creative and inspiring. Her own love for writing stems from a love for reading.
What was your motivation behind this project? Hidden Gems is a fun romantic suspense novel. I love to wonder what if... Most of my ideas, including this one, come from thinking outside the box.
What do you hope folks will gain from this project? While reading Hidden Gems will be an enjoyable experience, I also want readers to consider their own strengths and weaknesses. What do we allow to define us? How do we give God the most important pieces of ourselves and allow Him to heal us?
How were you personally impacted by working on this project? Every story has a little bit of me in it. One of the things with Hidden Gems, I had to change some names. It's hard to make that switch. This is my third full-length novel so I'm excited to get it to the public and watch where it goes. With Hidden Gems, I've been pushed to see beyond just writing. New authors have to do things to get noticed. I'm learning to step out of my comfort zone.
Who are your influences, sources of inspiration or favorite authors / artists? My absolute favorite authors are JRR Tolkien and CS Lewis. I love the classics- Austen, Alcott, and Burnett to name a few.
When it comes to wanting a fun read, I enjoy Love Inspired Suspense.
