I was excited to read The Antelope in the Living Room because I really enjoyed Melanie Shankles first book. The author uses humor to let her readers know what real marriage is like and she doesnt sugar coat all the struggles and pressures associated with it. It is a relief to read something that is honest because so many books out there only relate the good things of marriage and the hardships are so often glossed over. Though this book will have you crying from laughter, the author does have a lot of serious information that is good to know for anyone who is planning to get married soon or hoping to one day. I also like how the author uses Scripture to make her point and she does it in a way that really makes you think. For
anyone who is planning a wedding, this is a must read because it will open your eyes to what you are getting yourself into.
This was a very funny and entertaining book! Melanie Shankle talks about when her and her husband were first married and some of the funny adventures she went through. There were stories that I could definitely relate to even though I've been married a few more years than her. This was a very easy book to read and Melanie Shankle is a very talented writer. I would recommend this to everyone!
I read Mealnie Shankle's other book and when I found out she published this book, I knew it was a must read. I really enjoyed her book on marriage because she takes important issues in marriage and discusses them in a humorous manner. There was several times that I laughed out loud (causing my husband to give me funny looks) and there were also lesson in their that I can apply to my own marriage. The book was a quick read (read it in an evening) and I would strongly recommend picking it up for an enjoyable evening read.
Author and blogger Melanie Shankle has written another "memoir", this time about marriage. Like the first book, this one is filled with anecdotes from the author's life and marriage, some of which are rather amusing. I enjoyed this collection of stories as I did the author's previous book.
