B SPEER5 Stars Out Of 5101 Answers to questions about the book of revelationAugust 27, 2015B SPEERQuality: 5Value: 5Meets Expectations: 4I appreciate the authors words in the preface. It seems his goal is twofold with this very informative little gem of a book: 1) To answer key questions about Revelation in a clear, concise manner, and 2) to motivate Christians to live as God would want us to in light of what is to come in the days ahead. (Quoted from the author)
To the first goal: Mark Hitchcock (the author) - in my eyes- definitely has an accessible writing style that gave me enough weighty and scholarly material to chew on, without requiring a PhD to decipher it. Well done! I wanted to learn more about Revelation, and this volume has definitely helped in that pursuit. If you are reading this review, be on the look out for some interesting little gems tucked between these pages! ;)
To the second goal: On page 241, "Mark Hitchcock" (author) after systematically presenting some notable scholarly material, brings the issue to a close to zero in on the most important issue of all- LIFE IN CHRIST! There is an invitation for life in His name.
I'm glad I purchased this book! My thanks to the author Mark Hitchcock for this timely study!

The first two sections cover the background and interpretation of Revelation that paints a very logical argument about on why Revelation was written by John the Apostle, when it was written and why Christians should study this book. Sections three through five answers actual questions about particular verses in Revelation that include scripture verses and logical arguments. He also address some keys to understanding some main symbols in this book.
This may seem like a simplistic book but dont be fooled, there is enough good information to keep the reader looking back and forth between their bible and this book. This book will enhance anyones library. I would definitely recommend this book.

However, I recently obtained this book, because of my continuing interest in Bible prophecy, in general; and the book of Revelation, in particular. I have not been disappointed!
This book is excellent!! If you have ever wondered about the last book of the Bible and/or been fascinated by it, as I have, then you MUST get this book! Mark Hitchcock earned his Ph.D at Dallas Theological Seminary, and is the senior pastor of Faith Bible Church in Edmund, OK. He did his doctoral dissertation at the seminary on a particular aspect of the book of Revelation, and has done a lot of study on it, as is evident from reading this book. Although Dr. Hitchcock has written a number of books on the subject of Bible prophecy, this one is specifically on the book of Revelation. If you have ever wondered about "the mark of the beast;" or who the Nicolaitans were; or how to understand the seven churches in chapters 2-3 of Revelation; or many other things about the book; then you will appreciate this gem of a book. Although this very helpful resource on Revelation is scholarly, it is also very readable, and is written in a very orderly and logical fashion--discussing the book's interpretation and background first; and then, going section-by-section through the book sequentially, addressing specific questions about various things in the book of Revelation. Dr. Hitchcock is a very gifted teacher, as this book makes clear. I can't recommend it too highly, and I pray God will give it the wide circulation it so richly deserves!
