In response, hundreds of readers have asked them tough questions about life and living the Christian faith. Now this duo shares their answers to more than 200 of those questions including:
- Why is grace important if we believe we are always saved?
- What happens when we die?
- Is Christ the only way to salvation? What about other religions?
- How can we know there is a God?
- Is the Bible true?
Readers will appreciate the authenticity and depth of the questions and the clear, biblical answers that offer substance and sustenance for the faith journey.
Rerelease of Bible Answers for Life's Big Questions.
Bruce Bickel is an attorney and Chief Operating Officer of ConversantLife.com. His previous books with Stan Jantz include Knowing God 101, Knowing the Bible 101, and God Is in the Small Stuff.
Stan Jantz is CEO of ConversantLife.com. He and Bruce Bickel are coauthors of more than 50 books, including I’m Fine with God... It’s Christians I Can’t Stand and the Christianity 101® Bible Studies. As a writing team, their goal is to present God’s truth in a correct, clear, and casual manner.
My answer is yes and no. The book is very user-friendly, as its topics are divided by chapter, and there are subject and Scripture indices provided in the back. Bible Answers 101 answers a variety of questions, from the difference between biblical liberalism and conservatism, to judgment regarding suicide, and from the beginning of the earth to the coming end times. All the questions were asked by people who contacted Bickel and Jantz by email, and many of the questions were common ones that everybody asks at one point in his or her life. If the authors didnt know the exact answer to a question, they were quick to admit it. Some answers, they said, are too much for our human minds to handle.
I was concerned in a few of the answers given, however. Some questions included statements that were off-base biblically, and Bickel and Jantz didnt always correct the statements. The authors also seemed to skirt around the issues in some of the questions, not fully answering the initial question. It left me, as a reader, wanting more.
All in all, read Bible Answers 101 with caution. Most of the content in it is biblically solid, and Bickel and Jantz provide Bible verses in almost every answer. There are a few parts that are questionable, as mentioned earlier. I would recommend this book for a small group, where everyone can discuss what the authors meant by their answers. Read it with a grain of salt, a Bible in one hand, and a phone in the other so you can call your pastor if questions or doubts arise. Caitlin Wilson, www.ChristianBookPreviews.com
