"In this mostly filmed lecture, Catholic author and speaker Bert Ghezzi (The Angry Christian) discusses a proper understanding of biblical passages on anger, which on the surface appear to suggest that Christians should repress that emotion. In homespun, unaffected fashion, Ghezzi argues that such a simplistic interpretation is an error. Analyzing statements from both the Old and the New Testaments, he suggests that while uncontrolled rage is certainly unproductive and even sinful, anger canif properly channeled and controlledmove one toward personal holiness and also serve as a means of assisting others to improve their behavior as well. For most of Angry and Good¸ Ghezzi speaks before a small audience, but periodic inserted clips find him and others describing how they have on occasion allowed their anger to get out of hand with negative results, or how they have employed it positively, to help children or spouses understand why their conduct is upsetting and should be adjusted. Ghezzis point is that simply trying to suppress anger at all costs may in fact be counterproductive, and in an era when irrational rage has become commonplace, the real goal ought to be learning to use righteous anger for constructive ends.
