Author/Artist Review

Author: Joel Steele
Submitted: September 23, 2022

Tell us a little about yourself.  Joel Steele (MA, Liberty University) is an independent researcher and historical critic. He is the author of Early Christianity and Historical Methods (2021). Steeleā€™s primary research interests include the philosophy of Western thought, philosophy of history, and political theory.

What was your motivation behind this project?  There are many views regarding parallels between ancient Near Eastern literature and the Old Testament. Most of these views can be separated by evangelical scholarship or the secular academy. I wanted to provide an alternative. As an independent researcher, I'm not affiliated with any religious or secular institutions; this allowed me to critique the data without any concern for negative consequences.

What do you hope folks will gain from this project?  It was written for someone who desires a symmetric and honest approach to the material. It was not designed for the academy or religious institutions. In many areas, this work conflicts with the status quo of both the secular academy and religious institutions.
