Cathy Duffy Review

Popular convention speaker and storyteller extraordinaire Diana Waring is the author of Answers Genesis' history program History Revealed. ...More than just a history curriculum, each course might well serve as a unit study with its coverage of history, geography, cultures, Bible, Bible history, and the fine arts coupled with plenty of work in language arts and even some science. ...Each course is presented in nine units with four, weeklong lessons or "phases" per unit. Each of the four phases reflects one of four learning style preferences (based on Myers Briggs learning styles). ...On top of learning styles, the curriculum incorporates methods that teach to the three learning modalities: visual, auditory, and kinesthetic (movement or hands-on learning). ...[This] isn't your typical program. It isn't about memorizing names, dates, and events. Rather, it's about seeing the hand of God through history, the shaping of cultures and people. The emphasis is on learning in ways that engage the student's interest so that they grasp the big picture and broad outlines of history."

When I asked my 12 year old if she wanted to switch history programs next year, her reply was: "Mom, this is the first year that I've liked history!" I guess we are getting the next series of Diane's! This curriculum has so many ideas and options. We can't even touch on all the wonderful things in this program. Reporting, mapping, reading good books from her list, her unique listening CD's, baking, and so much more. My 12 year old never gets bored. I am thrilled with the knowledge she has gained this year! The way this program approaches learning has done wonders for my daughter. Finally, history that she loves to learn! Best of all, this curriculum uses the bible as the main history book. My daughter and I love how the bible and 'history' become one! It all becomes clear and makes sense!

Q: Can more than one student share a student book? I'll have a 6th grader and 8th grader next year. Should I get them each a student book? Or can they share? May I legally make photocopies of the student book for use within my family? Would it be practical for me to do so? Thanks.

The student book is not reproducible and since there are questions and written assessments, it would be most convenient for each student to have their own book. However, if you have them do their assignments in a separate notebook instead of writing in the student book they could share.

Q: Does this curriculum require alot of planning????

Yes, this curriculum does require quite a bit of planning.

Q: Is the DVD series directly related to the text/workbook or are they entirely separate??

There is a CD series that directly corresponds with this curriculum set, but there are no DVDs.

Q: What ages is this book for?

This student manual can be used in grades 5 to 12.
