These young realistic adults experienced deep losses that caused them to question their worth. Kathleen Fuller vivid descriptive scenes filled with emotions and actions kept the pages turning. The unforeseen happenings not only in the hero and heroine's lives, but secondary characters portrays how individuals can change with maturity and a closer relationship with God and others. It was also nice to see the changes in the lives of family members and the community from book one, A Reluctant Bride.
tammycookblogsbooks4 Stars Out Of 5Forgiving others and one's self is echoed in this novelJanuary 19, 2017tammycookblogsbooksQuality: 4Value: 4Meets Expectations: 4An Unbroken Heart takes place at the same time as book one in the series, A Reluctant Bride. This time around the main character is Joanna Schrock. Joanna is recovering from the injuries caused by an accident that her killed her parents. Her grief and changed feelings toward Andrew Beiler are foreign to her.
Meanwhile, Englisher Cameron Crawford is caring for his infant daughter and recovering from losing his wife. All the while, he is holding onto a secret that is almost unbearable for him. Other plot lines of Joanna's sister Abigail, Andrew's father, and more have me wanting to read the next book in the series, A Love Made New, to see how everyone fairs.
Forgiving others and one's self is echoed in this novel. I like how God kept putting people in Cameron's path to reveal His love for him. Joann and Cameron both are struggling to regain life and have faith. I would recommend reading An Unbroken Heart. SnowflakesGeorgiaAge: 25-34Gender: female4 Stars Out Of 5Honest Amish FictionNovember 21, 2016SnowflakesGeorgiaAge: 25-34Gender: femaleQuality: 4Value: 4Meets Expectations: 5What a pleasure it was to read Kathleen Fullers An Unbroken Heart. I had not read the previous Amish of Birch Creek novel, A Reluctant Bride, but I found that I was able to follow along with the characters just fine. I really enjoyed getting to know the characters and especially liked the struggles each faced. I am a fan of Amish fiction, but I sometimes find that they are portrayed more idealistically than I feel they ought to be. They are human with struggles, just like us. I liked that there were legitimate character struggles and heart issues that the characters deal with in this book. Id recommend it for anyone interested in Amish fiction, or in stories involving making the hard choices and healing when all seems lost.
I was provided this book for free from The Fiction Guild in exchange for my honest review. The opinions expressed are entirely my own.

Joanna Schrock's world has been turned upside downnot just from her serious injuries requiring a long recovery but from the death of her parents in the hit-and-run buggy accident. Can she forgive herself for the argument she had with her parents moments before the accident?
Joanna has been in love with Andrew Beiler since she was 12 years old. Andrew almost lost her in the buggy accident and decides they need to marry soon and Joanna agrees. But is now a good time to marry when Joanna has not fully recovered from her injuries and is still mourning her parents deaths? No one seems to understand what she is feeling. And what of God's whisperingsbe strong and courageouswhat does God have in mind for her life?...what of Andrew?
There is another character in this story that is struggling with his own personal losses and griefCameron, the man who fled the scene of the accident. What should he dorun and try to hide with his infant daughter or turn himself in? Can he forgive himself for what he had done?
This is a heartwarming story that takes the reader on an emotional-roller-coaster ride along with the characters. I found myself caught up in their individual struggles, fears, pain, laughter, love, forgiveness and the path God has for each of them. The nurse in me wanted to comfort and care for Joanna until she was not only physically well but also emotionally. She started out almost weak but grew into a strong and courageous, godly woman as God had whispered to her. I was hoping Andrew would give her some time but could understand the scare he had when she was in the accident revealing his true feeling for her. He did some growing up too during all that happened between the two of them. And Cameron, I felt his grief and the fear of loosing his infant daughtermaybe foreverif he turned himself in. I cried when he held his daughter before leaving once his decision was made. An Unbroken Heart is a heartwarming story that touched my heart.
