Griffith, Duke of Riverton, likes order, logic, and control, and he naturally applies this rational approach to his search for a bride. He's certain Miss Frederica St. Claire is the perfect wife for him, but while Frederica is strangely elusive, he can't seem to stop running into her stunningly beautiful cousin, Miss Isabella Breckenridge.
Isabella should be enjoying her society debut, but with her family in difficult circumstances, her uncle will only help them if she'll use her beauty to assist him in his political aims. Already uncomfortable with this agreement, the more she comes to know Griffith, the more she wishes to be free of her unfortunate obligation.
Will Griffith and Isabella be able to set aside their pride and face their fears in time to find their own happily-ever-after?

I highly recommend starting with book one, though it is not necessary. This book held my attention and kept me up most of the night, so I did enjoy it. I liked the overall story line and once I got to know Isabella the book got better. There is a constant repetition on how beautiful Isabella is and after a bit that part got old. This book could be difficult to read for a woman who is down about her looks because the book clearly shows how the men liked the beautiful women and that is how any of them get noticed. That is just my opinion and while Griffith states he cares more about a woman than her looks, he doesn't really act like it in this book.
In any case this was a fun light read, at times I found my self laughing out right.

Last in the group is Griffith, Duke of Riverton, the oldest brother who has approved or disapproved off all the romances occurring in his home.
The good thing about this book, is that you don't have to read the previous books to understand what is going on in this book. Is it helpful? Most definitely. Especially when mention is made of the previous wives and their escapades. For me, I'm going to have to dig up the previous books and read them to put all the pieces together. I look forward to it.
The Duke of Riverton, Griffith, has decided that after a year of figuring out what he wants, it is time to make a move towards his goal. Marriage to a woman. And he has the woman in sight. The problem is, while he's determined to win over Frederica St. Claire, he finds her a difficult one to catch. Instead, he finds himself more often than not, in the company of her beautiful cousin, Isabella Breckinridge. The problem with Isabella, other than her beauty, is that she is completely opposite what Griffith wants in a wife.
How Kristi was able to spin these four books, and keep new and fresh ideas for each plot like was truly a work of art. Kudos to her for finishing the series on a strong note. The fact that you brought laughter and tears, all within the book, made the read all the more delightful.
For the most part, I truly loved this book. I thought it was a fitting end to a fascinating series of the siblings of Hawthorne House. I guess the only thing I didn't like about the book... was the cover. And that's just being picky. I almost wish that they had designed the cover where we could have our own imagery of what this supposed perfect beauty looked like, without having one clouding the thoughts. However, despite that, the cover would not detract me from selecting and reading the book. This is a book I hope to keep on my bookshelf for years to come.

Hawthorne House #4
By Kristi Ann Hunter
Griffith has watched his younger siblings all find love and has witnessed the mistakes his closest friends have made on their own journeys to love and matrimony. And Griffith is determined to have a plan that will remove any and all chances of him making similar blunders. For the past year, he has been watching and his effort has paid off - he has determined that Miss Frederica St. Claire will be the woman he will marry.
There is just one problem - Griffith has to actually speak to the object of his logical determinations. After Trent's experiences, Griffith knows that love can come after the vows have been said. And Griffith has never had cause to doubt his logically thought out decisions so he is positive his approach to love and marriage will be a success.
Unfortunately, Griffith's attempts at courting Frederica are being thwarted by Frederica's cousin Isabella Breckenridge. It isn't that Isabella is trying to interfere but somehow they just end up spending time together. But with Isabella being the societal bell of the London season and the object of every gentleman's attention Griffith knows that she could never be the lady for him.
But Isabella is living a lie, one put forth to secure the future of her family. And if the truth comes out Isabella and those closest to her could be hurt and Isabella's chances of marriage will be gone (not that she is looking). And the longer Isabella is in society the greater the danger that the truth of who she truly is will be known.
Can Griffith find love based on logic or will his heart rebel and lead him in another direction? Only time will tell - and all of society has their eye on him after all he is the Duke of Riverton and his family is known for their marriages based on love.
I really think this book is my favorite in this series - though the first two were up there in the reading enjoyment factor. (I did not like book 3.) I like the way Griffith thinks things through and has a plan even though it doesn't go quite the way he planned it. And Miranda and Georgina are fun as they offer advice to their big brother in the ways of the heart. This is a definite high note on which this series is ending and Griffith's story is the perfect conclusion.

Rebecca ManeyGastonia, North CarolinaAge: 55-65Gender: female4 Stars Out Of 5Elegant Conclusion!September 16, 2017Rebecca ManeyGastonia, North CarolinaAge: 55-65Gender: femaleQuality: 5Value: 5Meets Expectations: 5"The prospect of being bait hadn't seemed so daunting until she was actually surrounded by the trap with no way out, no way home, and no other way to save her family."
Desperation can drive a young woman to despair; so naturally when the beautiful Isabella Breckenridge entered into an agreement with her uncle, in order to save her nearly destitute family, she never imagined the conundrum that her harmless flirting would create. Caught between who she really is and who her uncle has presented her to be, Isabella catches the unexpected attention of the most eligible bachelor to be found in the country of England, the very Duke of Riverton himself.
"You probably spent all of last year debating the merits of various ladies."
Griffith Hawthorne, Duke of Riverton, applies logic to every decision that he makes, so when he decides that it is time to choose a wife, he considers every angle carefully, much like he is accustomed to doing before any large business transaction. He thought he had it figured out, until the cousin of his intended not only invades his every thought, she seems determined to thwart any notion of courtship with herself or with her cousin; how inconvenient can one woman be? Something curious is going on in the house of Lord Percy Pontebrook.
Witty, romantic, entertaining and inspiring; all attributes of this elegant conclusion to Kristi Ann Hunter's Hawthorne House series.
