tammycookblogsbooks5 Stars Out Of 5I recognized towns and/or characters from other storiesJanuary 19, 2017tammycookblogsbooksQuality: 5Value: 5Meets Expectations: 5All four stories occur as the temperature is starting to dip while romance is on the rise. I read them one at a time. I was doing a big project and reading each novella was a welcomed break. The women in An Amish Harvest were not looking for love when it found them. Since I have read several books by all four authors, I recognized towns and/or characters from them in An Amish Harvest. For me, learning the history of Shipshewana, Indiana was an unexpected bonus in Mischief in the Autumn Air by Vannetta Chapman. I have been reading about Shipshewana for years in Vannetta's books. Each author brings a unique story and writing style that kept me turning the pages. This is a great collection of novellas that I would recommend. I received a free copy of this book in exchange for my honest review.

1....Under the Harvest Moon by Beth Wiseman
My heart went out to Naomi Dienner and her young children as she rebuilds her life after her husband dies. There are some things Naomi has kept secret which has her mistrustful and something has made her anxious. Widowed Englisher, Brock Mulligan, has been hired by her father to help with her harvest. He also has suffered losses and his heart is wounded. I enjoyed watching these two learn to trust again and allow God to heal their hearts in a surprising way. A heartwarming story.
2....Love and Buggy Rides**** by Amy Clipston
I can see how Janie Lantz struggled with her father's instructions to not get involved when she witnessed an accident with a buggy and carhow can she not tell what she saw and how can she go against her father's wishes? Johnathan Stoltfuz is certain it was not his fault but is beginning to have doubts. I was hoping the truth would come out. Family dynamics play a big role in the lives of both Janie and Johnathan. A tender, heartwarming story.
3....A Quiet Love**** by Kathleen Fuller
Dinah Hochstetler is rather shydue to her stutteringand kind of bookish. I felt her struggles as she tried to not stutter and her embarrassment. Amos Mullett may be a simple farmer but he has great love for his family. He captured my heart and I enjoyed watching the interaction between Amos and Dinah. Could they really find love and have a life together, overcome their personal obstacles as well as their families reservations? A sweet, tender story.
4....Mischief in the Autumn Air**** by Vannetta Chapman
Eli Wittmer loves being an auctioneer but something strange is going on. Why are the items being bought for more than they are worth? I am not sure he would have looked into it if it had not been for his new bookkeeper, Martha Beiler. It was fun to watch Martha get caught up in tracking down the trail of cluesand eventually Eliand her determination to find out what is going on. I like the educational element of the area worked into the clues and where they found the clues. Enjoyed the mystery in this fun, heartwarming story.
~I received a copy of the book from the author, (no monetary gain were exchanged), this is my honest review~

A beautiful time to take a buggy ride in Lancaster is in Autumn. In the novella, Love and Buggy Rides by Amy Clipston, Jonathan Stoltfuz is a buggy driver for Lancaster Souvenirs and Buggy Rides. He lives in Maryland but is visiting Pennsylvania for a few months. He really enjoys his new job. Janie Lantz just started her new job as a cashier at Lancaster Souvenirs and Buggy Rides. She and Jonathan become quick friends. Can this friendship blossom into anything more with all of the many obstacles that they face? This fast-paced novella is a very enjoyable read. Settle in for quite an amazing buggy ride through beautiful Amish Country.
Dinah Hochstetler has always been reserved, timid and aware of her stuttering. She is quite content at her house in New York, but her Mom insists she visits her Aunt for two weeks. She is nervous and knows how very long the two weeks will be. However, lovely surprises await Dinah at her Aunts house. Just Commonly5 Stars Out Of 54 great novellas that will for sure have you wanting more by each of these authors!,September 22, 2016Just CommonlyQuality: 0Value: 0Meets Expectations: 0Another great collection put together by Thomas Nelson Publisher! An Amish Harvest with stories by Beth Wiseman, Amy Clipston, Kathleen Fuller and Vannetta Chapman was charming and full of hope.
Surprising, this is the first story of Beth Wiseman's I've read. I have several of her books on my TBR list just based on the wonderful reviews I've heard from fellow bloggers, but yet to have the opportunity to do so. After her story, Under the Harvest Moon, I can simply say, I'm looking forward to each of her novels for sure. The underlying theme of dealing with physical abuse, and the shame associated with it was strong and presented well. The connection between Amish and the Englisch also plays a role, while the children added humor to the story. Beth sure pack quite the punch in this one!
Amy Clipston's Love and Buggy Rides was light but still add depth in the familial aspect between two seemingly different individual. One older, yet filled with hurt and pain from his past, and one younger and innocent in the romance department. As romance blossoms, so does discord among family. Tender and sweet in many ways, this one may stir a little smile out of you periodically.
A Quiet Love by Kathleen Fuller was a surprise. Our main couple, each with their own insecurities came together quietly, through friendship and strength that instill hope. Hope that didn't seem possible at the start of novel, yet with each other, and faith in God, its rays unfurl through the pages. A story that's every bit unique and warm.
As we come to the last story in this collection, Mischief in the Autumn Air by Vannetta Chapman, we are presented with a little bit of a mystery to solve. It's a staple I have noticed in Vannetta's story. There's always a little mischief and a little mystery, and it works so well with each of her stories. Mischief in Autumn is no different. With twists and turns, bring readers like myself into it, it's like I'm checking out the clues along with Eli and Martha! I do find it interesting to see how clues are gathered in the Amish culture. Don't you? Of course, besides our little mystery exploration, it might just lead to a little exploration of love for our characters.
In all, I enjoyed every one of An Amish Harvest stories, and if you ask me which one is my favorite, I don't think I can answer. They are all good, in their own way, filled with love, faith and message of trust. Depending on what you look for as a reader, I am positive at least one of these, if not all will capture your interest.
