    Great update

This review is for the 2015 update version of the Amplified Bible. I am impressed; it appears to have the outstanding readability of the original Living Bible, and the accuracy of the New American Standard. Incredible. Both the text and the notes were updated significantly from the 1987 version, although Amplified is not making a big deal of this. They should have. The Study Bible has good notes, and a lot of them; the "non-study" Bible has shorter, more academic notes. Both are good for what they are trying to do.The Study Bible and bonded leather "regular" Bible both have a large 12 point font, and it is crisp. The study Bible has closer line spacing, trying to make space for the many notes and maps. Even with this, it is fairly bulky, and 2" thick. My wife likes the study Bible, and I prefer the "regular" Bible, which is thinner and has a nice feel and less space used for notes. I like the paper used in these Bibles; it is fairly white, without excessive "bleed-through." Beware that even a Zebrite Bible ink highlighter will bleed through these thin pages. The thin pages are also a bit harder to turn, but that is not a hill to die on. In short, this is now my "go-to" Bible, after using the NAS for 40 years. I have no regrets.

Note: I also bought the compact version, for travel. It indeed has a small 6 point font, but is usable if you have good eyes. The paper and font quality are the same as the big brother versions. The notes are the shorter "academic" notes that are also used in the "non-study" Bible.

If I was to improve these Bibles, I would make the paper a hair thicker, the font a half size smaller in the big versions, and the compact version with a half size bigger font.

This Bible has a freshness and life to it that makes me want to get into the word, and I am getting more out of it. I recommend it!

I got this in purple and love what I saw, read and enjoying this so much.

I was afraid I won't like it that much but with the footnotes and all neat features!

I enjoy to read but not as serious study but just learning the great bible.

    It is a BONUS!

I was glad I got it and it is my first ever to have the Amplified bible!

This is my first Amplified Bible. I put off the purchase because all the word additions made it difficult to read. Lockman has now updated and I like it better than my ESV Study Bible for reading. Both are large print. Amp. is not as extensive as ESV and there is no concordance, but AMP is much easier to carry. The font is excellent. Also, a very pretty Bible in the dual purples.

I am a Bible collector of sorts.
