Theresa C ShellAge: 25-34Gender: female5 Stars Out Of 5Get this too!March 11, 2019Theresa C ShellAge: 25-34Gender: femaleQuality: 5Value: 5Meets Expectations: 5The Teacher's Guide is a beneficial part of this curriculum. It provides a suggested structure, questions, activities, and suggestions for additional study.
With most curricula, we skip worksheets as much as possible, but we did complete most of these ones (alternating between orally and written), because the corresponding questions were beneficial-- allowing the students to both narrate back from our reading, and consider details more thoroughly. I particularly love the questions that ask students to image themselves within the story, and answer what they would have done, felt, and so forth in the situation. My kids especially loved the historical drawings, and other puzzle-type activities in the Teacher's Guide. It took me a couple weeks to figure out what was going on with the Timeline, since some of the references were not directly in the chapters. Once we figured out how the Timeline would work best with our family, this also became a favorite activity.
Families with more than one writing student may want additional copies of the Teacher's Guide, which is where the activities are located.
TheVetetoeFamily5 Stars Out Of 5So glad I chose to buy this!March 4, 2019TheVetetoeFamilyQuality: 5Value: 5Meets Expectations: 5Our family doesn't usually grab the teacher books to go with our history since our children are still young. We tend to talk about the chapters and incorporate crafts. For America's Story 1 I chose to go ahead and get the digital version of the teacher's book and I am so thankful that I did! Being able to browse and print the worksheets we want to use for each chapter has been great and I often find that we are doing almost all of the activities compared to other curriculums we have tried. We're loving it!
Nikki5 Stars Out Of 5Outstanding!February 28, 2019NikkiQuality: 5Value: 5Meets Expectations: 5I have to say I am quite impressed with this Teacher's Guide. It follows the same format as other Master Book's TGs in that it provides a brief overview and comprehensive schedule. Beyond that - this guide is chock full of discussion generating narration questions, vocabulary building, sketching/artwork, and fun puzzles/activities. The digging deeper sections are a great way to delve a little further into the topics covered in each lesson. The worksheets are a great combination of factual recall and creativity.
I would definitely recommend this for elementary students. If you were to add extra reading and and perhaps a couple of projects, it could be tweaked for middle school students, as well.
Overall, I would absolutely recommend this curriculum.
Kelly5 Stars Out Of 5Not necessary, but worth the investment!February 28, 2019KellyQuality: 5Value: 5Meets Expectations: 5While you can totally use America's Story Vol 1 without the teacher's guide, I highly recommend you grab it to ensure you are getting all that you can from the book! Tips, hints, and additional resources are all contained within the guide to make your homeschooling job that much easier.
A Homeschool Mom5 Stars Out Of 5America's Story will surpass anything you've used before!February 25, 2019A Homeschool MomQuality: 5Value: 5Meets Expectations: 5We can't say enough lovely things about this curriculum. We loved that the Bible is the ultimate guide in using this resource, leading students back to God continually. We're incredibly excited that we are given a full, accurate account of America's story and a better understanding of God's plan.
We're quite pleased with the amount, and diversity, of activities included in the curriculum. America's Story far exceeds anything we could have anticipated. Families can expect to explore art, map work, copy work, narration, sketching, hands-on activities, and timeline selections which include additional research prompts, and so much more!
And the best part? Everything is included in the set. No more buying of additional quiz/test books or answer keys. This set is all we needed to start our adventure in American history.
