momto104 Stars Out Of 5Love this book BUTSeptember 19, 2020momto10Quality: 5Value: 4Meets Expectations: 3I have really enjoyed using this curriculum and was excited to use this again with my younger two. The problem is, the STUDENT JOURNAL that we so enjoyed with the first edition is no longer available! HUGE BUMMER!!!! That was such a plus. Please bring it back. Otherwise, the curriculum was excellent.

Rachel4 Stars Out Of 5Good, but a recommendation for uses and Master BooksJuly 2, 2020RachelQuality: 4Value: 3Meets Expectations: 3I have been really excited to see the expanding curriculum through Master Books in the past few years. After being homeschooled myself through the majority of my school years and and now entering our fourth formal year of homeschooling our 5 children, I have enjoyed replacing or integrating MB history and math courses to our regular curriculum. Providential history has always been a passion of mine and therefore, extremely important to pass on correctly. While I love the Charlotte Mason approach, the great use of historical pictures and artwork, etc., I found the lack of any source materials to be greatly troubling. There are a number of portions throughout book 1 and 2 (so far) that are not historically accurate (a small representation of this is found in the chapter on the Eerie Canal-the song "Eerie Canal" was not written and performed until years after the canal was constructed, not during its creation. A minor example, but one that explains why it is important to know the source of the facts you are teaching.). There are other summations of particular times (ex. The War of 1812) that do not adequately sum up the causes and results of the conflict.
I have found that this was a great overall curriculum for young students to gain a systematic approach to history understanding the God who has been, and always will be, sovereign over the events on earth. Additionally, we definitely enjoyed adding a number of literature breaks to enhance a time in history and played lots of historical music to bring more familiarity, fun, and a bit of fact memorization to our studies! -
Theresa C ShellAge: 25-34Gender: female5 Stars Out Of 5Beautiful and Engaging!March 11, 2019Theresa C ShellAge: 25-34Gender: femaleQuality: 5Value: 5Meets Expectations: 5This is a fantastic curriculum: beautiful pictures, engaging story-based history, short lessons. We used it last school year, and both my kids remember this portion of history when we come across names or events in other studies and read-alouds. We went through many chapters slower than the recommended pace, to incorporate outside read-alouds, movies/YouTube, crafts, and even a couple related field trips, while others we completed as recommended.
The Student book alone makes an excellent read-aloud, but the Teacher's Guide is definitely worth it with making this a complete curriculum. -
TheVetetoeFamily5 Stars Out Of 5Exactly what we were looking for!March 4, 2019TheVetetoeFamilyQuality: 5Value: 5Meets Expectations: 5We've only been using America's Story for a short time but so far our family is really enjoying it! The narration is easy to understand but is packed full of information delivered in a way our 3rd grader loves. She isn't overwhelmed or memorizing facts but instead is genuinely picking up on the history being taught. The illustrations of the old maps are definitely a favorite aspect!
