American Literature: Poetry, Total Language Plus Study Guide

The Total Language Plus: American Literature course consists of three modules (each sold-separately): Non-fiction, Short Stories, and Poetry. For a full year of American Literature it's recommended that they be completed in that order and that students complete the year with the TLP study guide for either To Kill a Mockingbird or The Scarlet Letter. Each module contains detailed lesson plans for three levels of study: advanced placement, regular high school, and overview. Internet access is recommended and utilizing the library is essential.

The "American Literature: Poetry" module not only covers 30 American poets, it also teaches how to read poetry. Students learn seven important steps for appreciating poetry as well as the vocabulary relevant to understanding it. Plan 8 to 12 weeks for completion.
