American Literature: Nonfiction Study Guide
The Total Language Plus: American Literature course consists of three modules (each sold-separately): Non-fiction, Short Stories, and Poetry. For a full year of American Literature it's recommended that they be completed in that order and that students complete the year with the TLP study guide for either To Kill a Mockingbird or The Scarlet Letter. Each module contains detailed lesson plans for three levels of study: advanced placement, regular high school, and overview. Internet access is recommended and utilizing the library is essential.
The "American Literature: Nonfiction" module covers 31 American authors and teaches how to read and write essays, with a strong focus on thinking and communication skills. Authors are presented within their historical context. Plan 6 to 10 weeks for completion.
