I love the way the Abeka History curriculum is laid out. Its colorful, it's easy to read and understand, it's an open and go book. However, my problem comes in with how much opinion they put in the text, rather then just facts. they constantly say "America js the best country in the world" and "America is great." I feel a history book should have facts only, and not opinions. The fact these words are repeated over and over is even worse. I cannot keep using a hisotry book that is trying to convey opinions and not just facts. As much as I like the layout of these vooks, I will be supporting a different curriculum. I wanted to add photos of just the first several pages of the book, but it doesnt look like I can add photos

This book is great for first grade. I did not buy the teachers Manuel and workbooks to go with and we are doing just fine. My child is 1st grade and works well with it. I do add my own videos and a art project to put in a portfolio for review and it covers all the boxes. (i.e. constitution, bill of rights, memorable icons, states with national birds and flowers) If your not willing to put in the extra work I would recommend buy extra books. We had Abeka for kindergarten and I learned how to make it more challenging without spending more money.

I wanted to find an easy to read social studies book for my struggling fourth grade reader. Even though it says first grade, it works for our older child with its shortened sentence structure and easy to read/comprehend paragraphs. Glad to install a love for America in the next generation! We need more materials like this.

I love this book! Very good valuable lessons & easy for the kids to understand. I have a 1st & 2nd grader & they are both doing the 1st grade book. It's challenging enough for both grade levels.
