Simply written instructions are tailored for independent learners; at the beginning of each unit, an overview, list of lessons, and list of additional books needed are provided. Lessons may be read aloud, or alone. Four to six activities are provided at the end of each lesson, which parents may choose assignments from; each takes approximately 45-90 minutes, and students are not expected to complete all of them. Activities often cover thinking biblically, vocabulary, creative writing, or activities in the sold-separately Maps of America the Beautiful, Timeline of America the Beautiful, We the People, Student Workbook, or Lesson Review books. One special family activity is assigned per week, including arts and crafts, recipes, and multi-age projects.
Continuing from Book1, this book contains pages 439-1007; black and white and color illustrations and photographs are included. Grades 5-8.

A Living Books Educator2 Stars Out Of 5Dry and TediousJanuary 20, 2018A Living Books EducatorQuality: 2Value: 2Meets Expectations: 2I am writing this review about the America the Beautiful Part 2 textbook ONLY, not the supplemental material or books. My daughter (11) is using this textbook in a homeschool co-op class. Honestly, it is dry, tedious and boring to read. It is one date after another, one fact after another, many of them very insignificant facts. The subject matter is interesting, but the presentation and writing style are not engaging in the least.

Jen5 Stars Out Of 5My kids are begging to do 2 lessons a day!!!July 29, 2015JenQuality: 5Value: 5Meets Expectations: 5I used this curriculum for 3 of my 5 children grades 3rd, 5th, and 7th. I did the reading out loud with all of them and then together we did the maps (which my kids LOVE) and the timeline. My 7th grader then would complete the literature and review work alone. It was a perfect fit for our family and my husband and I would "fight" over whose turn it was to teach history because we both enjoyed it so much!!!
Warning: this curriculum did cause my children to want to visit every spot that was talked about and now have a goal to go to all 50 states! We did take a big family trip up through several states and visited several of the locations that were talked about in the books. These are also great books to take with you on road trips we've found! We stopped in at Mammoth Caves because of a lesson and otherwise would have missed it completely, so glad we were able to go!
Great curriculum, can't say enough wonderful things about it! History is fun and my kids are begging to do 2 lessons every day (that has NEVER happened with history curriculum before!)
