Publisher's Description
▼▲Once childhood friends, Ben Haynes is taken with Amelia Carlyle when he runs into her at her sisters wedding. Although he will be returning to Kansas and life on his fathers ranch, Ben calls on Amelia several times, and they find they have more in common than they first realized. As he leaves for Kansas, they promise to write.
Back in Kansas, Ben begins to save money toward a home for Amelia even though he has not made his intentions known. Hes relying on God to make a way. Meanwhile, Amelia is presented to society and has several young men vying for her attention.
Although Ben has captured Amelias heart, her parents make every effort to discourage the relationship, even forbidding Amelia to correspond with him. Amelia tells Ben that she will wait for him as long as it takes, but will the love and loss they experience along the way bring them closer or drive them apart forever?
Set in Oklahoma Territory before the days of statehood, Winds Across the Prairie is a series of stories of how love and forgiveness can overcome even the most difficult obstacles when God is in control. When ones heart is attuned to Gods leading, the greatest of sins can be forgiven and a new life begun. These love stories will appeal to women as well as young adults as a story of how God helps His children overcome circumstances when they put their trust in Him.

The book had not been proof read as the people was not called by their own name in places. If I had not been determined to read it I would have gave up in the beginning but it got better in the end.

The story is set in a high society Boston era, in the late 1870's and Amelia Carlyle is to be presented. She does not want to do this, but her parents have raised her to. Her father expects her to marry well, and she feels God wants her to obey.
Enter a long ago friend all grown up, Ben Hayes. He is now a tall, handsome young man, but he lives in Kansas. Amelia becomes, of course, infatuated with Ben, and he likewise! He comes from Society, the right people, people of Boston.
Amelia's parents, especially her Father thwarts Ben's relationship with her. He forbids her to see him, and wants her to pursue other relationships right here in Massachusetts. They are very afraid of loosing her to Kansas.
With all praying for answers, and wanting to follow God's plans, you will hope they will listen to what He is telling them. A great read and surprise how things turn out!
I received this book from the Publisher Realms, and was not required to give a positive review. -

I just received the Prequel: Amelia's Journey and finished reading it.
As a standalone book the Prequel is great as a true Prequel it does not line up with what is in the Series. I am sure she decided to do the Prequel as after thought and I am glad she did. I just wish she had done Amelia story first so the other books in the series would have lined up to Amelia story.
In Amelia story Ben is the son of her parent's closest friends who moved to Kansas and started a Ranch a very successful Ranch. Ben on his 20 birthday is suppose to obtain a share of the Ranch and later inherits some money from his grandfather. Ben also builds himself a nice house on the property. In Lucy's story Amelia and Ben are living in Oklahoma and it states "When we stopped in Kansas, we lived in a two-room Soddy built out of mud and straw."
In Lucy's story it states that "His family and ours were good friends. We knew each other as children, but he didn't want to go into this father's business after he finished school, so he up and headed west. His father said Ben was on his own and didn't give him much money. When he came back, we'd both grown. He was so handsome in his boots and western clothes. I was smitten fright away." Well in Amelia story it was really Ben father who did not want to go into the business and Ben father was the one that ventured west with the family.
I love the all the books I just wish the Prequel lined up with what was already written.
