MaureenTSyracuse NYGender: female5 Stars Out Of 5Going HomeJanuary 27, 2025MaureenTSyracuse NYGender: femaleI knew when I chose this read that it would be a good one, and Colleen Coble didn't disappoint! If you enjoy a faith based read with non-stop action, this book has it.
You think you know the reason all these dangerous incidents are happening, but then there is something else, another different incident.
Yes, there are murders, and shots fired, sabotage, arson, then add in flooding and tornadoes. I was wondering if everything was related, but wow, and then some answers come, but then what we did know changed! Cliff hanger!
I felt so sorry for Paradise, she is a Veterinarian, and now accepting a new job at an animal sanctuary in her old hometown, Nova Cambridge, Alabama. It must have taken a lot of courage to come back here. A place where her parents were murdered, and a place where she will be taking care of big cats, she is still recovering from a mauling by a leopard.
Then there is Blake Lawson, he is home helping his mother take care of his brothers, and the sanctuary, after the untimely death of his stepfather.
Now I can't wait for the next book in this series!
I received this book through Net Galley and the Publisher Thomas Nelson, and was not required to give a positive review. -
Vicki FAge: Over 65Gender: Female5 Stars Out Of 5riveting, suspensefulJanuary 19, 2025Vicki FAge: Over 65Gender: FemaleQuality: 5Value: 5Meets Expectations: 5Fast-paced? Page-turner? Suspenseful? Ambush by Colleen Coble is all that and more! Danger from nature and danger from some unknown person(s). From page one I was captured with the characters and plot. But, I wouldn't expect anything less from a Coble novel.
Releases Mar. 4th. I received a complimentary copy of this book. Opinions expressed in this review are completely my own. -
Kate5 Stars Out Of 5Excellent!December 9, 2024KateA wildlife animal sanctuary is a unique setting for this exciting new series. With a little romance, a lot of animals, and multiple mysteries, this expertly woven suspense is difficult to put down. It was nice to see familiar characters from the Tupelo Grove series, and the author states that she also includes characters from the Pelican Harbor series, which I have not read. But you do not have to read any of those books first to enjoy this one. My only disclaimer is a warning for mention of suicide. I liked that the book concluded well, but did not wrap up perfectly, leaving room for a sequel while also being realistic. If you love a clean whodunit with many Christian elements, that was even better than What We Hide, don t miss this one. I am already looking forward to book 2.

Cheri SBattle Creek, MIAge: 35-44Gender: female5 Stars Out Of 5Can I give it 10 stars?March 8, 2025Cheri SBattle Creek, MIAge: 35-44Gender: femaleQuality: 5Value: 5Meets Expectations: 5Wow, simply wow. I have been waiting for months to read this book and was not sure exactly what to expect but it outdid any expectations I had built up about it. First of all, it continued us with characters from her other series set in Georgia, so I loved that. Then we were introduced to secondary characters, who are now main characters, with the addition of some other characters that are main characters and wow, simply wow!
I loved the personality of Paradise as much as I love her name! I also loved Blake's character. When we find out he'd "betrayed" Paradise years earlier, I was expecting him to be a "bad boy revised" but was pleasantly surprised to find out the why behind the betrayal. It made me love him even more if that was possible.
Lastly, I loved the secondary character, Blake's best friend's twin brother. I don't want to say his name because I am afraid I will not remember it correctly, but let me just say, those interactions were by far some of my favorites throughout the book. I CANNOT wait for the next book in this series and I am enjoying reading the first series that introduced us to this area while I wait.
And the animals? They by far stole the show especially Bertha and Rosie. We are animal lovers in our house anyway so that was icing on the cake. Well written, amazing storyline, I cannot wait to read more. I am sad I have to wait months before the next book in this series.

Gretchen Garrison5 Stars Out Of 5will man or beast ambush them firstMarch 6, 2025Gretchen GarrisonQuality: 5Value: 5Meets Expectations: 5Quote A big truck barreled past them, and it backfired as it drew alongside the pickup. He jerked at the loud sound before he could cover it, and his heart rate accelerated. He hid the calming breaths he took before Paradise could notice. Noises like that took him right back to that last ambush.
Providing sanctuary to wild animals can be complicated. Especially if someone is out for revenge. This latest romantic suspense book by Colleen Coble is so good! But I am not sure that it is one you want to read right before bed. But you do definitely want to read it if this is your genre.
I have been to the zoo many times in my life. After reading this book, I will never look at the cages and habitats in the same way. Man against beast adds another layer of suspense to a book that goes beyond the typical man versus man.
But I do love the characters in this book. So many great themes as well. Loss. Redemption. Moving on from the past.
The book did wrap up some of the mystery portion. But I missed the fact that this book is part of a series. Many unanswered questions remain. I will definitely be reading the next book.
I did get to read an early version of this book on Netgalley. I read all of her books, And I wanted to review this one. All opinions are my own.
