The whole thing couldn’t have taken more than sixty seconds. Bailey hung on to the counter, dazed. If she let go, she’d collapse—and the twitching fingers of one of the gunmen would pull a trigger. The rest of her group huddled in frozen shock. Dear God, tell me this is a dream … The shooter’s teeth clenched. “Anybody who moves is dead.” On a beautiful Saturday morning the nationally read “Scenes and Beans” bloggers gather at Java Joint for a special celebration. Chaos erupts when three gunmen burst in and take them all hostage. One person is shot and dumped outside. Police Chief Vince Edwards must negotiate with the desperate trio. The gunmen insist on communicating through the “comments” section of the blog—so all the world can hear their story. What they demand, Vince can’t possibly provide. But if he doesn’t, over a dozen beloved Kanner Lake citizens will die …

Brandilyn Collins, known for her trademark Seatbelt Suspense™, is the bestselling author of Violet Dawn, Coral Moon, Crimson Eve, Eyes of Elisha, and other novels. She and her family live in Coeur d’Alene, Idaho. Visit her website at www.brandilyncollins.com and her blog at www.forensicsandfaith.blogspot.com
Once the attack occurs, Police Chief Vince Edwards tests newly learned negotiating skills with the explosive Wicksells while bargaining for the lives of several of his closest friends. The bloggers can barely contain their terror with the unpredictable trio. As the minute hand ticks forward, tempers shorten. Fear escalates. Hope decays.
With her trademark Seatbelt Suspense, Brandilyn Collins takes the reader on a wild ride. Fast paced, absorbing, and tense, this page turner is hard to put down. Because of the pace of events and number of characters, the reader doesnt get to know several of the protagonists well. The bloggers friends and family sustain them with prayer and try to understand why God allows this to happen. These scenes are lightly touched upon, but one of the prayer support team reminds a hostage family member that God stores our tears in a bottle. (Psalm 56:8) However, the suspense is center-stage rather than character or theme.
Collins throws a nice, little twist in at the end.
If you enjoy a fast-paced, suspenseful read, youll enjoy Amber Morn. Just dont start it at bedtime or if you have to be somewhere else shortly, because you wont want to put it down. -- Debbie W. Wilson, www.ChristianBookPreviews.com
