My, oh my. This is the 4th book in the Christiansen Family Series by Susan May Warren and of course, its simply wonderful. I truly cannot get enough of the Christiansen Family. This is Casper and Rainas story, and its a great one. Casper is such a stand-up guy. This family of characters exemplify Christianity, even with their realistic flaws. The flaws, and their continued steadfastness in their faith is exactly what makes this series so enjoyable to read.

I love the Christiansen cast. Each book builds on the previous, and we dont lose characters. This story includes more of Darek, Ivy, and Tiger, and strong cameo appearances of Jace & Eden and Grace & Max. Oh, and it is already leading into Amelias story which is coming next. Yet, if you want, each book could stand alone. Im just not sure why anyone would want that. I highly recommend this book as well as the entire series.

Phone Tree Review: Always on My Mind is another Christiansen family hit! I adored Casper and Rainas story. As far as I am concerned, Warren can keep writing about this family indefinitely. I am officially hooked.

What I Liked About This Book:

As with the other Christiansen family novels, this book started with a letter from the matriarch to her child. The letter was intimate and encouraging and so full of love and grace that it made me want to both smile and weep at the same time. For a mother to know her child so well and to speak to his heart so preciselyit was beautiful.

Each character was flawed and yet there existed a possibility for more in each one of their lives. I couldnt help but to be hopeful about what was to come.

Casper was just so darn lovable. What a great guy, with such a good heart. My heart broke for him and for what he had to endure. His strength of character and of heart, it said a lot. I thought he was the perfect light knight.

Raina was so easy to relate to. Her missteps and struggles were not so uncommon. She dealt with everything from shame and unworthiness to guilt and unforgiveness toward self. Boy, that describes most of us! Warren did a magnificent job of teaching and helping readers to see how God can not only move each one of us past ourselves, but also how He can make us new and give us a newness in very respect.

Darek, Ivy and Tiger this family will always have my heart. It was wonderful to see them. Their challenges and hits made this story and their own story even richer than it already was.

Even though Owen was not in this story, I am still so utterly intrigued by him. I am waiting patiently on his story. I know his transformation will be epic.

Welcome home, Amelia! I have got to know the details on her story. Roark and Sethdo tell!

The mystery treasure hunt was a nice touch.

Baby Layla was a treasure. Aww

    What I Was Not Expecting:

I was not expecting Raina to walk into an abusive relationship.

I was not expecting Darek and Tiger to have tension between themselves.

I was not expecting any reference to Evergreen.

I was not expecting the Amelia situation.

I was not expecting two babies.

At the end of the day, I was not sure how Warren would work out the whole Owen-Raina-Casper story, but she did it and she did it well. Bravo!

This was again another great book in this series. I loved Casper and Raina. You need to read these books in order to enjoy them the best. All of the Christiansen children are wonderful. Raina has a child from a one night stand with Caspers brother. Does Casper love Raina enough to get over the fact of her having his brothers child? I received this book from book fun.org for a fair and honest opinion.

A romantic mystery of love, hurt, family and faith. This story of mistakes and how they deal with it was a hard topic to write about and the author pulled me right into the Christiansen family. I could feel all the emotions of the people involved and the consequences of their mistakes became very real. I enjoyed this story and if you like Christian romance with a touch of mystery I think you would like this one, I certainly did! I was gifted a copy by The Book Club Network (bookfun.org) for my honest opinion which I have given.

Warren's novels are always so much more than a simple romance. She deals with complicated issues and this novel is full of them, concentrating on Casper. He must deal with his anger toward his absent brother for his involvement in Raina's life. He has to face his own feelings for Raina when she seems to be shunning him. He has to face Darek's wrath as the resort struggles financially. We are able to get into Casper's mind as Warren shares much of his inner struggles.

We also share some of Darek's struggles in running the resort while his parents are away (a vacation planned in Evergreen). His wife is about to give birth and Darek is overwhelmed with the pressures he feels.

This is not a nice, tidy Christian romance. Raina struggles with the mistake she made, the impossible task of being a single parent, and the recurring thoughts that God does not love her. Casper struggles with forgiveness and his own feelings of failure. Darek is convinced he will be the ruin of the family resort. Each of these three must overcome mistakes to be the people God has designed them to be.

This novel is a bit longer than most Christian novels. Much of that is getting in the mind of the characters. Readers who like to be privy to the mental struggles of individuals will enjoy this novel.

For me, the most rewarding aspect of this novel is the family relationship. The family members are loyal to each other, each helping the others in their time of need. Even though some have married and are away from the resort, when a need arises, they are right there. The only one not benefiting from this family loyalty is Owen. I am sure that is fuel for a future novel.

While this is part of a series about the Christiansen family, Warren provides enough background information throughout the book that I think one could enjoyably read it without having read the previous novels.

I received a complimentary egalley of this novel from the publisher for the purpose of an independent and honest review.
