We have purchased other titles written by Karen Kingsbury and have been delighted with them. Not this time. The artwork is adorable, but it is not quite the message I want to be sending my daughter.. It talks of middle school and fashion shows...sweet sixteen, boys and music. I want the focus, while I am still in control of the messages put before her, to be on God and what He has for her, not on the "status quo" teenage-dom. She was made for more than fashion, dating, prom, and her iphone tunes. I have one grown daughter and one young daughter, and two sons as well. We will be sending this one back.
This book seems very sturdy and the art is nice enough.
However, I do not like this book at all; actually, I think it's really awful. Tea party, a soccer game, teen shopping, boyfriend, then college and on to world travel. She returns home to wed and then have her own baby-girl. The end isn't bad but I really wish I had not bought this. I give this to my 2 yr old when I have to leave the room, so if it gets destroyed, I wont really care. There are far better books out there.
I love this book. I was hoping for something that had a spiritual message for children and this meets my expectations. There is a Bible verse on almost every page and in the story and the dad is praying for his daughter.
