Are you looking for a hands-on Bible for your toddler? This book is perfect. Each scripture passage includes what the reader will say and what your toddler will do (motions) or say out loud. What a great way for Scripture verses to come alive to little ones. I know verses I learned when I was little are still the ones I remember today. It is never too early to start teaching kids Bible verses.

This beautiful book would fit great in an Easter basket for little kids, and will definitely last longer than any chocolate!

The Play-Along Bible is a way to pass along the stories of the Bible in an imaginative and creative way. Each story is told through words [reading], colorful full-page illustrations [seeing], and through the movement of hands, facial expressions, and sounds [action]. There is so much going on here within each page and story! What a delight to gain the attention and enthusiasm of young child. At the same time they have their attention held they are learninglearning sounds, movement, words, and the knowledge held within the Bible.

The suggested ages for The Play-Along Bible are between 3-6 years of age. However, with a little memorization and creativity by parents these stories could be told to children when they are 2 or 1 1/2 year of age. Once they are older they will already be familiar with the actions and words and can repeat them over and over again. Children could even share these stories and actions with their friends. Going a step further The Play-Along Bible could even be used for Sunday school classes on a pre-school level.

I highly recommend The Play-Along Bible to all parents, Sunday school teachers, and children!

The Play-Along Bible: Imagining Gods Story through Motion and Play, written by Bob Hartman and illustrated by Susie Poole, is designed to be interactive. It is beautifully illustrated with lovely pictures to hold any childs attention.

This Bible contains fifty Bible stories that are written to encourage children to combine actions with each story. The author suggests that parents perform the action or sound first, then have the child imitate each one. This book will instill a love of the Bible, reading, and spending time with parents or caregivers with its fresh, multisensory approach. It also encourages physical activity and social interaction, as well as growing the imagination. There are also four memory verses in the back of the book.

This Bible is an amazing addition to any childrens library. I would recommend it to anyone wishing to teach children Biblical stories in a fun and bonding manner.

Is there a way to play and read with your child at the same time? Absolutely! This book combines Bible stories with activities that are done while a story is being read. Many may remember singing songs such as "This Little Light of Mine," while holding an imaginary finger light up in the air, or pretending to cast a fishing line in "I Will Make You Fishers of Men." One of the things that made those songs fun was the hand motions that were done while singing. This book takes that kind of fun to a new level.

The stories in the Bible are timeless, enrich our lives, and are God's gift to us. He tells us in Deuteronomy 11:18-19 that He wants us to use this gift by knowing what the Bible says, and making sure we pass that knowledge on to our children:

So commit yourselves wholeheartedly to these words of mine....Teach them to your children. Talk about them when you are sitting at home, when you are out walking, at bedtime, and before breakfast!"

For many reasons, that isn't always happening. With this book, you can change that. Before you know it, voil, you have read fifty stories from the Bible, and, you along with your child, had fun while doing it.

    Let the fun begin!

One thing I learned from teaching Sunday School for ten years, was to be creative with the stories. The more imaginative things I did, the more fun and memorable the stories were for my six and seven-year-old students. This book fits the bill for that perfectly. These stories are short, beautifully illustrated and include simple, but fun, activities to do while reading them.

For example, when telling the story of baby Moses being found in the river, some of the things the listening child will do include pretending to peek through bushes, make faces, and jumping up. In the story about John the Baptist, a few of the things the child will do include cooing like a dove, hooting like an owl, and clapping!

I have not seen another book like this one, and it is truly a delight. It is made well with a padded hardback cover, filled with colorful pictures on every page, and packed with fun. This volume works just as well for one child, or a group. Share wonderful Bible stories in a way that will make them memorable, along with making some happy memories for you, and the child in your life. You will also be giving one of the best gifts you can: your time. I highly recommend this 5-star book to anyone with children or grandchildren, as well as, anyone who works with little ones.

Tyndale House Publishers has provided bookreadingtic with a complimentary copy of The Play Along Bible, for the purpose of review. I have not been compensated in any other manner. All opinions expressed are my own, and I was not required, or influenced, to give anything but an honest appraisal.
