danniAge: 25-34Gender: female3 Stars Out Of 5For younger readersJuly 2, 2015danniAge: 25-34Gender: femaleQuality: 5Value: 3Meets Expectations: 2I requested this book in the hopes of finding my son a more advanced preschool bible. His bibles we currently read are great but he enjoys the stories so much that I was looking for something with a little more depth. The My Sing Along Bible also intrigued me as it came along with a music cd and he loves his dance parties!
When I first received The My Sing Along Bible I immediately sat down with him to test it out. The book consists of 50 stories from the Bible, covering Genesis to Revelation. The music CD consists of 50 corresponding songs. Some were pretty well known, such as Jesus Loves Me, while others were very new to both of us. Most were good dance party songs so he enjoyed them thoroughly.
The format is actually quite simple. Each story consists of a Lets Read condensed paragraph, a Bible verse that to reference, and a Lets Sing section. J enjoyed the illustrations in particular. It also includes a Little Lesson section that offers a summary phrase of the story.
I believe the book is recommended for children ages 3-7. Although he enjoyed it, he did seem a bit bored with it. I believe this is because the stories are extremely short. He is definitely a reader and loves the details of a story.
But in general, the book was biblical and engaging. Since we were looking for something more advanced, we probably wont reference this book that often except for the music cd.
Jolene4 Stars Out Of 5My three year old loves the song cd!June 22, 2015JoleneQuality: 5Value: 4Meets Expectations: 4My Sing-Along Bible by Stephen Elkins features 50 Bible stories and a music cd with a coordinating song for each story. Each page spread contains a section of a Bible story with illustrations complementing the story. Below that is a Scripture verse and the chorus to the corresponding song. Finally, a Little Lesson section offers a single-sentence synopsis of the story.
I'm not sure what the recommended age group for My Sing-Along Bible is, but my three year old enjoys it. We received this book a week or two ago which is typically long enough for her to have lost interest in a book. However, she still likes to look through this one and occasionally asks me to read it to her. What she really loves is the cd of Bible songs. We listen to it multiple times a day. After the opening song on the cd, I thought it was going to drive me crazy b/c the chorus to that one was extremely repetitive. But, it turned out that I liked many of the remaining songs and she loves them all. Repetition does not bother my three year old.
The content is in line with Scripture as far as I can tell. I recommend My Sing-Along Bible by Stephen Elkins to parents of children ages 2-5 again, I'm not sure what the publisher's recommended age group is. It's a good to book to just sit and read to your child during the day. It's also versatile enough that it could serve a bedtime story book with you choosing how many stories to read based on how long story time is.

Floyd JohnsonUpstate NYAge: 55-65Gender: male5 Stars Out Of 550 Songs, 50 Devotions, 50 Times the FunJune 9, 2015Floyd JohnsonUpstate NYAge: 55-65Gender: maleQuality: 5Value: 5Meets Expectations: 5Stephen Elkins has created a fun book for kids, parents, Grandparents, or Sunday School teachers, to begin the process of helping kids read, understand, and apply the scriptures to their lives.
With 50 songs, each supplemented with a short devotional, a selected scripture verse, and quick "Little Lesson", the book will serve as a child's first devotional book. The colorful images will attract the kids' attention as well. My wife, an experienced preschool Sunday School teacher, is looking forward to using the material with her three- and four-year old students.
Most of my reviews are for adult books - but it is occasionally fun to see the material being offered to the future generations of leaders in the church. This book did not disappoint and should serve as a welcome addition to a child's or Sunday School classroom's library.
