I have used Saxon on and off for the past 8 years. I tried a different Algebra program with my 13 yr old son because it didn't seem that he was picking up as quickly with the Saxon Algebra 1/2 as I thought he should have. Turns out that he really did understand the concepts and principles as taught in the 1/2, and the new program was just not as detailed. So we'll be switching to the Saxon algebra WITH the geometry portion included (4th edition doesn't include as much).

I used Saxon Algebra I thru calculus in public schools as a student in the 1980-90s. Saxon prepared me for math long beyond the classroom. I have 2 masters degrees & have taken the GRE without formally having much math after high school. I highly recommend Saxon based on how my math skills are after 25 yrs of not formally studying math.

I wouldn't use any other math program for my children. They stay engaged and find it easy to look up difficult problems. I highly recommend it to anyone who has children that are frustrated with their current math program. Saxon is by far the best out there, and Christian Book is wonderful to carry it and make it more available to people.

I have used this product with my children and many students that come to me for tutoring. It doesn't allow them to NOT learn the math they need!

I have been using Saxon products for my kids for the past 7 years and really like them. The continual review of math concepts has helped my kids develop really strong math skills. There is also an emphasis on mental math which is a great skill to have. The concepts are introduced so incrementally, that my kids never get overwhelmed by a difficult concept. It was really important to me that they never feel that math is "hard" and Saxon reinforces that it isn't difficult, it is just different. Saxon programs are rigorous and the lessons are longer than in some other curricula, and I don't recommend them to everyone, but if you are looking for a solid math program that focuses on the basics, Saxon is a great investment.
