Tell us a little about yourself. I had retired from the United States Army and had settled down on a small farm in Alabama. It seemed ideal. Then one day the dreaded words came: "You have Cancer" . I had fought the fight and I was losing my battle against two Stage-Four Colon Cancers. I collapsed in my dining room and was rushed to the Hospital. I died twice that night in the emergency room and was revived only to be placed on life support and told by a team of Doctors that I only had about 4 hours left to live....
What was your motivation behind this project? I had survived only by a Miracle from God. Moments after waking that morning. in the hospital, the Nurses, Staff and Doctors came from all floors in the hospital to see "The Miracle Man in Room 501-B". I was stunned, shocked and yet amazed at all the attention I was getting. And I noticed the little Preacher who had been by my bedside day and night was still keeping his vigil and praying for me. In the end, I had lost everything I had owned, divorced and homeless. But I was Alive, God had given me a Miracle, and another chance in life, and I was determined to share my story with everyone I met.
What do you hope folks will gain from this project? My book is a short read, and I intended it to be. I had never written a book before, yet this little blue book, soon became an Amazon Best Seller ! A lot of people say they're inspired to read it through, front to back, in one setting. I would hope that my journey would inspire those who are fighting cancer, or struggling just to get through life to find Hope in the pages of this book and follow Jesus. He may just have a Miracle waiting for you also.
How were you personally impacted by working on this project? As I worked on this book, I became inspired to travel and testify about the numerous Miracles God had given me, I wanted people to tell me their stories of survival and their own personal battles. My Wife and I soon found us traveling this United States of ours, reaching out to those in desperate need of inspiration and hope. God has always provided us with the gas, tires, and oil, from somewhere. I stand fast in that I cannot refuse a call to travel to testify, because I know that God has someone there, even if just One Person, that He wants them to hear my story... Its the least I can do....
Who are your influences, sources of inspiration or favorite authors / artists? 1 in 3 Americans will one day be told they have Cancer. You are not alone. "It ain't over till God says its over !!" As I began my travels and testimonials, I became inspired by the hundreds and thousands that have faced death and survived. Sometimes, I may only see a handful in a small country church, other times several hundred in a convention center. But the most rewarding, humbling moments are when someone there accepts God. Yeah, the trip is worth it....
Anything else you'd like readers / listeners to know: I dedicate this book to the countless Nurses and Doctors, Caregivers who roll up their sleeves every single day and fight for our lives.
