Jill5 Stars Out Of 5I. Loved. This. Book!July 5, 2019JillIf you are a person that has a propensity to fear and anxiety, THIS BOOK IS FOR YOU! Believe me when I tell you that I highlighted the CRAP out of this book. I laughed. I cried. I identified with the author. I wrote notes on the first few pages of the book to remind me where certain quotes were located to refer back to at a later date. I looked up the Bible verses. And it ministered to me. Afraid of All the Things reminded me of what Christ has already done on the cross so that I can live free. I can honestly say that I'm adding Scarlet Hiltibidal to my list of favorite authors and look forward to her next book!
Pastorjud5 Stars Out Of 5Great Read!March 27, 2019PastorjudQuality: 5Value: 5Meets Expectations: 5She tells her story in a way that holds your attention. She shares her fears in a way that most can relate. I enjoyed reading the entire book. I like most that she shares the gospel all throughout the book. She is vulnerable, honest and real. It is easy to read and very timely. I strongly recommend this book.
Bible Believing ChristianYouTube ChannelAge: 45-54Gender: Female5 Stars Out Of 5A great book on fears and anxietyMarch 1, 2019Bible Believing ChristianYouTube ChannelAge: 45-54Gender: FemaleQuality: 5Value: 5Meets Expectations: 5First of all I want to begin with the aesthetics of this book which are very pleasing. The textured cover is eye catching with the array of drawings that represent a lot of common fears that people have. It is very well made and has a nice binding that should hold up for years to come. If you set this book on a table or counter and left it there it is one that people would pick up just based on the aesthetical quality of the book.
The author is very open about talking about her fears from her earliest memories of fears and up through today and she explains how the gospel helped her to take control of her fears rather than allow them to cripple her. Some of her fears may seem silly to some readers and may seem completely rational to other readers that may have the same fears as the author. Everyone experiences fears and anxiety differently and because of that we need to not discount other peoples fears just cause they do not make sense to us, instead we need to use our faith in Jesus as a way to help others to overcome their fears as well as helping us to overcome any of our own fears.
The book is very easy to read and keeps you interested in continuing to read it. I loaned it to some friends who are not big on reading and they read this book cover to cover much faster than I would have thought they would and every one of them said that it helped them to realize that their faith is stronger than your fears and that makes me think of the saying "faith your fears".
You will quickly see that although the author gives us a lot of insight on her fears and that this book is not just about fear but it is more about Jesus and learning to realize what He did for us and what an amazing gift it is. My trust in Jesus is what keeps me grounded and keeps me from succumbing to fears and/or anxiety. The Gospel is such a blessing.
This is a great book and I think it would be a great one for all Christians to read because we all know someone who could greatly benefit from what this book has to offer and there is definitely something that you will take away from this book once you have read it. I will be loaning this book to friends and I pray that it will help them to suppress their own fears.
I received this book from the publisher in exchange for an honest review. All opinions are my own.
FayJac5 Stars Out Of 5Great book on fear!February 8, 2019FayJacThis is a great book dealing with fears. In a lighthearted way, Scarlet mentions fears that she has or has had (and she was a very fearful and anxious child!). It reminds you of the fears that you had as a child or still do. One fear that really hit home to me was of getting too close to God because He might then require something of me that I was not willing to give or require me to go the mission field, etc.
Section One, "My Fears Will Not Define Me," discusses many kinds and types of fears and the feeling of anxiousness that we all get from time to time. In Sections Two and Three she begins to break down the fears with our trust in a loving God who has defeated fear and death, has power over the things we fear and loves us unconditionally. She uses many illustrations from her own life and her growth and trust in Christ to deliver her from fear.
This is a very interesting book to read and covers the subject of fear quite well. We all deal with fears or anxiousness from time to time, some more than others. This book really deals well with overcoming our fears.
