I wanted a way to make history relevant for my 6 year old granddaughter. We played Patriot and handed out Quills to imaginary officials and waited for the secret answer. She is interested in more stories like this and so am I.
HomeSchool Mom of 4The Hot Dry DesertAge: 25-34Gender: female5 Stars Out Of 5Great Sub-series within a Series!July 25, 2014HomeSchool Mom of 4The Hot Dry DesertAge: 25-34Gender: femaleJust like the other Imagination Station books, my kiddos and I loved this one! This is the first in a sub-series revolving around the Revolutionary War. We read this book as part of a homeschool unit study on the American Revolution. Like the other Imagination Station books, this had all of my kids (ages 6, 9, and 10) on the edge of their seats--we do these ones as read-alouds, though one of my daughters read it in advance and was excited that we were going to use it for school. The end of the book was especially surprising--the perfect cliff hanger! We've already ordered the next book, Captured on the High Seas, and can't wait to receive it!
bookwormPennsylvaniaAge: 25-34Gender: female5 Stars Out Of 5Good book for young readersJuly 18, 2014bookwormPennsylvaniaAge: 25-34Gender: femaleQuality: 5Value: 5Meets Expectations: 5In the Redcoats are Coming, cousins Patrick and Beth find themselves in 1775 Concord. There they meet historical figures such as Paul Revere, John Hancock, and Samuel Adams and they lend their aid to the Revolutionaries by delivering secret messages, smuggling ammunition, and alerting the sleeping citizens of the Redcoats approach. As in the other books of this series, I found valuable Christian truths were taught as well as accurate historical facts in a way that would not only captivate readers, but also drive those lessons to heart.
