Bols5 Stars Out Of 5Encouraging experienceJune 3, 2016BolsQuality: 5Value: 5Meets Expectations: 5This is my first time ordering from Christian bookstore. I prefer to visit stores for whatever I want to buy and make my choices instead of being dissappointed when an order is delivered. I placed an order for 2 children's Bibles. It was delivered earlier than I expected and in excellent condition. Quality is also very good. Thank you. I will patronise this online store more.

Joyful lady5 Stars Out Of 5for an older adult friend, who doesn't read very wellApril 8, 2016Joyful ladyQuality: 5Value: 5Meets Expectations: 5My purpose in purchasing this bible was different than most people's would be. I bought this for an older adult friend, who is physically and slightly mentally handicapped. They do not read very well and had become very discouraged in trying to read a bible. I wanted for them to have a bible that is easy enough for them to read without being too childish looking or worded for a 2 year old. In the huge selection Christianbook.com has, I liked this one the best. The cover and pages are not so obviously childish looking, as to likely embarrass my friend or an older child, who may not be very advanced in their reading yet. It is also not worded for such a young child, so hopefully it will not offend my friend or an older child, who may be reading at a young child's level but is not as undeveloped and inexperienced mentally as a young child would be. The print is not as large, as a giant print bible, but bigger than the average adult bible, without being really big and heavy, making it more comfortable and easy to read, for someone who can see well enough to not need the actual giant print. I liked too, the simple questions and explanations to help the reader understand better what they are reading. Like already having someone there with you, who can help by asking you things, you may not have even realized you didn't fully understand and then explaining it to you. I wanted them to have a bible, that was inviting to pick up and read, while giving them more potential of being able to read it, and understand what they read, without it seeming offensively much too young or way over their head. The age group this bible is meant for is the older grade school, on in to middle school. I don't remember the exact grades or ages, but I think it is PERFECT for anyone about those ages or grades. There is one geared more for girls and one more for boys.
One of the first questions I saw was, "Do you know what it means to be created?" Yes, it was toward the beginning of Genesis. Well, if you don't really know what it means to be created, all you would learn from reading that story, is God was mentioned and all of the things He made, but you wouldn't know anything about Him making/creating them. But what about God, and the things listed? You would miss the whole meaning and importance of the story!
In the huge selection Christianbook.com has to choose from, I think this bible is one of the best for anyone around those ages or grades and hopefully for someone, like my friend, too!
My friend is taking a look through their new bible and trying it out to see if they can read it easily enough. If I have an opportunity to update my review, I'll let you know what they think about it.
Regarding the company, Christianbook.com; their customer service people are very knowledgeable, helpful and patient! I am not that familiar with the different types of bibles or translations, so I needed help to find the different types of bibles I needed to consider and then to narrow down my list and make a final decision. The person who took my call, was wonderful! She knew just what questions to ask me to find out what my needs were with this purchase and then which bibles to suggest. She was very knowledgeable of the ones she suggested and the ones I asked about, being able to tell me the differences, the usefulness of different options and why she thought different ones were the best, while also being able to tell me the ones customers choose the most and why. She was so easy to talk to, like I had sat down with a knowledgeable friend, over coffee and was asking them about bibles, while never making me feel like I needed to hurry up, any of my questions, were dumb ones or I should have known more about bibles. I didn't end up being able to complete my order with her, because of a little key piece of information, I was not certain about. She told me that was no problem, told me what my order number was, to identify my order I had started with her and to call back whenever I had that information and was ready to proceed with my order. When I called back, I was so impressed and pleased with how easy their procedures made it to complete my order. Just like I was still talking to her and there had never been any pause or break. The bible arrived right on time, was well packaged, there was no damage to it and I was very pleased with my purchase. The only thing that did not happen, as I had requested was, I had asked for the name to be printed in white on the front cover and it was done in silver. The man who helped me complete my order, had said he would make a note of that, but he couldn't guarantee it would be done in white, because it had already been decided by the people who do the engraving, what colors looked best and went with the rest of the bible best. When I saw the engraved bible, right in front of me, I was glad they had done the engraving in silver, because I thought the silver did look much better than white would have looked. As accommodating as they were on everything else, I'm sure, if it had been that important to me for the engraving to be done in white and I had said that, they would have done it as I had asked but after the man told me that, I kind of just left it up to them, in the way I ended placing that order. I would not hesitate to make another purchase from Christianbook.com and already have browsed through most of their web site, making a list of items for future purchases!
