For each day there is an Nouwen quotation, a Scriptural passage, a prayer and an action. So it's pretty doable and you could spend anywhere from a few minutes to all day with what is suggested.
I bought this because I wanted an Advent devotional and because i like Nouwen. I'd recommend it for these purposes or to introduce someone to this wonderful author, as it can be a little daunting to try to read someone new that has such a vast amount of writing.
Sharon O'Banion5 Stars Out Of 5December 11, 2009Sharon O'BanionI had ordered this book for myself, but I ended up ordering it for several people. It is as good as the one he had for Lent and Easter > It is short enough to be interesting, but long enough to make you stop and think. The actions at the end of each day is very doable and is something that can be carried over throughout the year. I highly recommend it to anyone, whether they are a new Christian or one who has been one for many years.
Linda Santiago5 Stars Out Of 5December 11, 2008Linda SantiagoI was searching for a devotional book that would help prepare me for advent. Wow, this book is better than I hoped! It is so easy to get caught up in the whole Christmas rush and I wanted something to help me slow down and remember what it is we are celebrating....the birth of our Lord Jesus.
